Aperture or Lightroom on my MacBook?

I've got some 20,000 photos and want to access them easier for photo books, etc. my laptop freezes and I fall asleep waiting for iPhoto to do anything. Which of these should I choose? I'm at the apple store now waiting for my genius to make sure nothing else it wrong.

I have both and have abandoned Aperature. I'm certain that it's a great program, but I couldn't get the vocabulary straight whereas I was already more familiar with Adobe and LR.
