View Full Version : Can you travel with breastmilk through US/Canadian customs?

I will be going to Vancouver for work a few days, but I will need to pump for comfort while I am there, as DS still nurses 3-6x a day.
I'd rather not pump and dump, and I will have baggage allowances for a small cooler.

Question is- does anyone know if I can go through security on the Canadian side and then though US customs upon re-entry to US with expressed breastmilk?

I have had no trouble with domestic travel, but have never tried international travel with breastmilk. Based on my length of stay, I think I will have about 25-30 oz to transport.

TIA!

I assume you mean air travel and not a land crossing? IMO, the issue would be with the airport security, not Customs.

At land crossings:
Bringing food into the US I've been asked about: meat, fruit, and vegetables.

Bringing food into Canada I've been asked about: nothing.

You also can't bring plants either way.

On the Canadian side I doubt they'd even ask. And a US citizen going back in I doubt they'd even question it.
