Hi, currently I have the basic tomy baby monitor which I have been using for 4 months now. It's always been fine as we only used it whilst we was downstairs as on a night my son was next to me.http://dailydigitaldeals.info/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/11/20/buy.gif
He's now in his own room however we can't use the monitor as its so loud! Even the volume at the bottom it's too loud to sleep with, and there's constant interfering and weird sounds. Can anyone reccomend a good and quiet monitor which You can only hear it when there crying etc? Preferably one that isn't over £50 like all these video ones?

Well, the one I want to recommend is expensive, but I think it's worth it! We've had ours for over 5 years, and though the display on the parent monitor is conking out due to constant use, it still works perfectly. It's got a long range and doesn't interfere with wifi or any of our electronics. It also allows us to speak from our room through the monitor to the children, which we use a lot now that our kids are older.

This is the one we have, though ours is a much older model. http://www.amazon.com/Philips-AVENT-Monitor-Temperature-Sensor/dp/B003YC0W8G/ref=sr_1_6?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1400771547&sr=1-6&keywords=avent+monitor

This one looks newer and is selling for $119:

We had the original Avent with DD1 and LOVED it. It lasted nearly 4 years. For DD2, we bought the new version and must have gotten a dud, because it did not work AT ALL. So odd, considering all of the positive reviews. Before we returned the Avent one, I went out and purchased the Babies R Us digital monitor. We like it well enough and it is significantly less expensive then the Avent. A few things I don't like about it:
-battery life is not great
-cord for the AC adaptor is short
-If not using the VOX mode, there is a lot of background white noise (VOX mode works well though!)
-The design of the parent unit is not very stable. I've knocked it over numerous times. Now I just lie it on its side instead of standing it up Does not affect the function at all, just annoying. :)
-The button to increase the volume is at the bottom of the unit and the button to decrease the volume is at the top! This makes no sense!
-The layout of the buttons could be better (in addition to the volume buttons)
-The tiny light near the bottom of the baby unit (to signify that the power is on) continually blinks. Again, this does not affect the function, just annoying.

But as far as monitoring sounds, it works just fine. I used a coupon so it was less than $50. :D
