Boardwalk vs Beach Club- Help!

We are planning our trip for the end of Jan and debating between the Boardwalk Villas and Beach Club Villas. This will probably be the only time we stay on property. Normally we stay at Bonnet Creek and will do so the next time, because my sister's family will be going and they can't splurge like we can. We're leaning towards the Beach Club but wanted pros/cons from those who have been there. DS1 will be 6 and DS2 will be short of 3 if that matter!

Haven't stayed Beach Club, but loved BW. 2 questions if you plan to use pools. Are either kids scared of clowns? Apparently the BW pool clown freaks a lot of kids and adults out. Our DS4 (at the time) had no problems. Beach Club has Stormalong bay, but your kids are probably still too young to really enjoy that.
The hallways at BWV are very long.
