I've heard great things about these (http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=gbsl_tit_l-1_0942_5f758810?ie=UTF8&node=9633112011&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_s=left-new-1&pf_rd_r=08A1EJH2HK7NA7HA03SM&pf_rd_i=20&pf_rd_p=1740370942). I'd get one, but I have an air purifier that already doubles as a noise conditioner.

Thank you!!! Oh I am tempted. DS has one but the rest of us resort to fans...I like it but I am a white noise addict and still prefer a fan. Maybe a fan and one of these, LOL.

Thank you! We are going on vacation next month with family members, who have young children who awaken at night and this is exactly what we will need!

Do any of you have comments on the EMF emissions from these? I followed a link from slickdeals and read this review which makes me a bit nervous. I think at the least I will move DS's marpac across the room as it is pretty close to his crib now. However the review is older so maybe the newer models are different? What do you guys think about this?

ETA: thanks again OP! Went ahead and bought two more so we can all have them in our bedrooms.

Never heard of this. Looks intriguing. I missed the DOD but maybe next time it's on sale. Thanks OP!

Is this thing seriously only 6"x6"?!? Might have to consider it if it's that small.

Are they the type of thing that would drown out my husband's moderately loud snoring?

Is this something you would put in a baby's room to help them sleep? We already use a sleep sounds giraffe, but it goes off after about 30min.

I think a lot of people like them for their own room and for their baby. Some reviewers said they did not drown out loud snoring, I think it depends on the placement of the machine.

I have found that my air purifier, which creates a similar "mechanical" white noise, really helps reduce noise pollution from outside the room, but noises made inside the room seem rather unaffected. Maybe putting the machine on a nightstand near your head would be the most effective (mine is near the bedroom entrance). There are some free apps that offer white noise, you could try them first, but I don't seem them as an all night solution.
