There is an amazing Playmobil sale at Toys "R" Us right now nationwide. Not only are the prices amazing, but because the sale is largely unadvertised and has not been publicized on any of those "deal" websites where speculators buy up whole toy store stocks to sell on eBay, selection is very good. Whhhhhatttt??? Are these priced as marked or are they just ringing up this way? I was on a July shopping break but this might be a deal breaker.

this is a very much YMMV thing, not nationwide. In my area I found some good deals at one Toys R Us, but then nothing was clearanced at another. My mom's TRUS also had nothing on clearance - at least nothing at these prices.

I know my TRU had set 5252 - Native American Children with Bear Cave for $9, I bought it like 2 or 3 weeks ago? The other sets were not on sale, but I'm going back to check - my girl REALLY wants that volcano one.

BTW, the 5252 set is really cute, both of my kids enjoy it!

Thanks OP!

Just to answer a few things:

1) This sale is in-store only, not online.
2) The prices are not marked. The shelves will still have the full price. You must scan them.
3) The sale is nationwide, not YMMV. However, since Toys R Us pricing varies by store, the final amounts will also vary. For example, the Pony Farm is 70% off. In one of my local stores it retails for $79.99, so it was $24. In another local store, it retails for $86.99, so it was a tad more.

no it is NOT nationwide at every store - I just stopped at another one today and the things you list were NOT on sale for
the prices you posted (not even close in most cases). And I scanned them. Some were marked down but not as much as your prices and some were not marked down at all. For clearance, I have found every toys r us does their own thing.

eta: and the super low prices were marked on the shelf at the one store I was at the other day, so really it just depends on your TRUS.

Anyone else checked it out in store? My local TRU has awful customer service so I know it's not worth a call. I'm sick but if those prices are real I must go out. DS loves the T-Rex set and keeps asking for it for Christmas.

I went today and my TRU did have the prices marked on many playmobil items. Some things had already sold out. I was looking for the volcano set and probably would have gotten the dollhouse also at that price, but I didn't see the volcano. There was shelf space where the dollhouse used to be and it had a sticker marked clearance for $8.xx down from $49.99 as OP listed but none were left on the shelf. I need more playmobil like I need a hole in the head so probably a good thing we didn't find anything. But it was fun to look.

Thanks for posting OP.

Thanks, OP. Not a fan of TRU (awful CS), but hit two today and got two different Western sets which are perfect for my Playmobil fan who is reading the Kaya AG series right now. Debating checking the inky other semi-close store for a few other sets...but, perhaps I should just be content with the great deals I got already!

Of course it will. These sets are either all discontinued by Playmobil or being discontinued as part of Toys R Us Playmobil assortment to make way for new sets (like the fair collection, currently exclusive to TRU).

Thanks OP! I picked up two dino sets (t-rex w/ volcano and the smaller velociraptor set) for my dino obsessed 5 year old daughter. They had a few other dino sets and pirates left at my store but they were not discounted very much. The ones I bought had the steepest discount, came to around $32 total for both. Think I'll give the small set for part of her birthday and save the big volcano set for Christmas :)

Our TRU only had a few sets and those were not at the full markdown. They were tagged clearance but only a small % off. None of them were sets that currently interest my kids so I passed. Sigh. I'm trying to pretend it wasn't meant to be. I really wanted Santa's house (for me, I admit) and Ds2 wants the Police waterfront set. I wish we had other stores nearby.

Thanks so much OP! Our TRU had a few things marked clearance, but they were discounted much. But the ones that the OP mentioned were at the discounted prices that she listed though they weren't marked discounted. Only when I scanned them did I find them discounted. So I used her list to pull those ones and scan them. All of them were discounted like OP listed!! There were a couple that were a couple of dollars more, but the deals were still amazing! Thanks!!

Thanks OP.

My store had huge clearance banners everywhere and the clearance items were marked so everything was picked over even as the store opened. It wasn’t just Play Mobil items either. There wasn't a set I liked, but I bought a few other things that were 90% off (t ball stuff and a bath toy).

Holy cow! I just found two of the volcano and T. Rex sets. They were part of the BOGO40% so the second one was only $13.xx! I wanted one for a centerpiece at DS's Dino theme birthday party but I got the second one too. Not sure if I will save it for a gift or just let DS play with both after the party. Found the velociraptor set too.

Several sets were marked, but not all. The shelf for the T. Rex said $80 something. :) So there's hope. Also in my store the larger sets were on an endcap so I almost gave up before I found them.

As people have mentioned, the sale got better.

Playmobil is "Buy 1, Get 1 40% Off" this week. The sale excludes "Clearance Blast" items, but it includes other clearance items.

If you already purchased items last week, you can get refunded the difference by just bringing in your receipt. If the item does not say "brown clearance" on the receipt, it qualifies for the sale. I just went to my store and got about $25 refunded.

The Dino sets all qualify for the sale, so to give an example, you can get two Dinosaur volcano sets for about $35, or roughly 85% off retail!

I haven't been to KOP, but in M-ville they were all out of the larger sets but the shelf sticker did show the marked down price. I was able to find a Dino set for $8.98, but everything else was sold out. Of the other sets that were marked "clearance", they were a measly 10% off, if you were lucky. I don't really call that being on "clearance", but I always have that complaint with TRU and WalMart. We did find the Scooby Doo lighthouse that rang up at $5.98, some Croods figures that were on brown clearance, and some Iron Man electronic wristbands that rang up at $ 0.99 (good for a stocking stuffer).

Call your local store(s). The inventory checker said there weren't any in my whole state. I called, and even though their computer system said there weren't any, the nice lady went and checked the shelf and found one for me!

Thanks so much OP! I found the T Rex at the second TRU we tried and with the BOGO 40% sale it was $8! Definitely don't go by the inventory tracker mine also stated that there were none in any of our stores. If you want a big set look around the end caps because that's where they were at both stores. Bummed they didn't have the horse corral though but neither store had much if a selection.

If anyone has a volcano/dino set that they want to sell or trade, please PM me. I was really hoping to find any or all of the three dino sets but there were none at the two stores within driving distance. I was fortunate to find some other sets (car ferry/pier--that one is big!, animal care station, native american camp, horse show, covered wagon, and even some advent calendars for $6 each) but the dinos are the ones I was really hoping for. We love playmobil. Great sale!

I was able to hit a total of three TRU stores to find 12 of the ones OP listed. I put the list in Excel and after some manipulation sorted by the PlayMobil number so I could check against whatever they had on the shelves. The Western Fort and Pirate Bastion I saw at all of the stores but the Volcano with Tyrannosaurus I finally found one of at my last stop.

Thanks so much as it will be a PlayMobil year for my twin's birthday in November and then Christmas. I caved and gave them in each one swapping for one of their gift cards.

Not in Mass., but I went to 3 nearby stores and the selection was totally different from one to the other. One had the super low prices marked on the shelf, the others didn't. I got one different dinosaur set at each store I visited. I found them to be very helpful when I called. They can check inventory at other nearby stores too if you ask them. Hmmm....how much playmobil is too much? I got DD2 two dino sets on clearance (t-rex volcano and velociraptor), but I was going to have my MIL check her TRU for other dino sets or the holiday calendar. Has anyone set up the t-rex volcano, is it huge? The box certainly is and I see the website says set up time is 30 minutes!

Too bad there is no princess stuff on sale, those are the ones DD1 wants.

i went to two toys R us stores today and had a bit of "luck" (i'm on a serious BAN of stuff because my dd and i recently moved in with my folks and we have too much stuff already...i just couldn't resist)

i bought the german horse (the 2 dollar set with the paddock), the bear cave (6 dollars) and the superset playground. i COULD have bought the bank (i didn't drag that to the scanner or i might have...cause it's pretty cool :) and my kid is obsessed with money), the pirate bastion (the box was partially open though), the dollhouse (this almost came home but the box was too big and we have something similar and i just COULD NOT DO IT) and the western fort. none of the stores i've been too (3 now) had any of the "dollhouse" furniture which i would have picked up to use with our other stuff.

if anyone is in the st. louis area looking for the fort or bank, PM me and i'll let you know where they were. they had tons of banks and 2 forts at the one store i went to (and the 1 doll house i saw, and the opened pirates...) i'd love for someone to be able to snag them if they are looking! :)

i went to two toys R us stores today and had a bit of "luck" (i'm on a serious BAN of stuff because my dd and i recently moved in with my folks and we have too much stuff already...i just couldn't resist)

i bought the german horse (the 2 dollar set with the paddock), the bear cave (6 dollars) and the superset playground. i COULD have bought the bank (i didn't drag that to the scanner or i might have...cause it's pretty cool :) and my kid is obsessed with money), the pirate bastion (the box was partially open though), the dollhouse (this almost came home but the box was too big and we have something similar and i just COULD NOT DO IT) and the western fort. none of the stores i've been too (3 now) had any of the "dollhouse" furniture which i would have picked up to use with our other stuff.

if anyone is in the st. louis area looking for the fort or bank, PM me and i'll let you know where they were. they had tons of banks and 2 forts at the one store i went to (and the 1 doll house i saw, and the opened pirates...) i'd love for someone to be able to snag them if they are looking! :)

sent you a PM

I don't think it's possible to have too much Playmobil!!! :)

i agree with corie, except that I have been put on strict notice about bringing anything into my new living situation ;) heaven forbid we should have to get rid of any playmobil we already have ;)

I found the pirate bastion for $14 at a nearby store and bought two (one for The Biscuit for next year's birthday and one for his BFF for Christmas next year . . . they had about three left. However, no luck on the fort or any of the smaller items and not a single good dino deal at my store (although I could see where they had been). I did not see any of the dollhouse items at all.

I did get the 123 Animal Park for $14.xx and then the 123 Jet for $5.98, on markdown and then BOGO 40% off, which I thought was a good deal, but most of the 123 items already were gone.

I also picked up two Raffi CDs for $2.80 each, a Tervis 10 ounce wavy tumbler for The Biscuit for $1.60 and another for $9.98, and Smurf set of five for one of my assistants that collects them for $3.40 (we will put them on her b-day cake later this year).

I note that my store had a LOT of the Tervis 10 oz. wavy tumblers that regularly run $16 and up on clearance in the back for $9.98. My store had lots of princess and superhero logo cups (e.g. a Captain America shield, Batman logo, etc.), along with some footballs, Monsters U and other patterns (pirate ship, aquarium, etc.).

I ended up getting to two stores yesterday. Thanks to Seitvonzu's tip, we got the Western Fort for $30, the vehicle with baby t-rex for $13.98, the bear cave for $6, the 123 take along barn for $14.48, the 123 shuttle bus for $9.48, and a horse with rider and paddock for $3.48. We also picked up a new bicycle helmet for The Biscuit for $3.60 and a mini-snow shovel for him for 50 cents.

We also hit a second store, but no real luck there. I did find the 123 rocket for $5.xx. I asked at the service desk about the B2G1 deal online and was told that it was on-line only. However, the nice guy behind me gave me a $10 off $50 Playmobil coupon that the assistant manager let me apply against the total days' purchases to get cash back. The guy had a bunch of Lego items in his cart and I sent him over to where they had packages of 24 Lego figure stickers for 26 cents each on brown clearance and he and his wife cleaned them out (there were about 20 packages).

All in all, successful shopping (although still no volcano, sigh).

Are only those two larger items officially "brown clearance" items, while the other sets are just regular clearance? I bought a variety of sale sets from the list but don't know which ones are now considered 90%-off Brown Clearance sale items...

I got some Western sets, Dinos, Santa sleigh, Pirates, etc.

Enticing, but I have no desire to schlep back to TRU, particularly this weekend with the ILs in tow.

I'd be curious to know which ones are brown, too. I bought a few early on but I'm pretty sure they were different types of clearance because of the markdown amounts. Is there a way to tell from the receipt?

Prices that end in .00 are brown clearance; prices that end in .98 are regular clearance and not further discounted.

I went with all my receipts and was able to get a price adjustment totaling $57.67 on my brown-clearance purchases -- yay!! It was still only 90% off at my store, though, not 95% yet -- the saleslady said it was supposed to be 95% that day but for some reason they hadn't done the markdowns yet and she wasn't sure what the plan was for when it would go down to 95%.

I was able to get a price adjustment with just a receipt, too! Of the things I found, only the pirate set was on brown clearance. I also found two Leapster Explorer games for $2.50 each.

One more question about the price adjustments, is it only on the prices ending in .00 (for example 45.00) or also on the ones ending in .98?

They gave me a price adjustment on only the items that said "brown clearance" on my receipt. My TRU also made me bring in the items for them to scan.

So did your store put more things out? If I there is a decent chance that this could be the case, I will get in the car on Saturday afternoon and make the trek with everything to get refunds AND see if I can find that Volcano with T-Rex.

Nothing additional put out. This is a clearance so unlikely stores will put out more things unless its returned items.

Yes, that's the official policy. Some stores will allow it within 90 days, though (the return policy) by doing a return/rebuy. It really varies. If you're shot down by one associate, it's definitely in your interest to try again.
