I know lots of love YLF. It seems so big to me. Any tips on getting started? Do you just read the front page? Do you hang out in the forums? Do you have faves you follow? TIA

Totally agree. I checked it once, and didn't even know where to start....so I didn't. Will be following this thread!

When I checked it out in the past, it was to look up certain categories of dressing tips- like tall boots, Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, dressing cute in winter, etc. I've also checked out a couple of Goldenpig's posts (one I remember was with her different handbags). :)

When I was a newbie there (only 3 years ago!) I started by looking at Angie's list of recommendations for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and just went from there. There is a helpful post on formulas for Mom On the Go casual outfits. It's from 2009, but I think the formulas are still applicable:
http://youlookfab.com/2009/10/07/10-casual-outfit-formulas-for-mom-on-the-go/
And here is a list of articles about Mom on the Go style:

Also she has lots of articles on advice for style, how to dress your body shape, wardrobe editing, and shopping:

I liked hanging around the forum, looking at peoples' outfits, and I got really helpful advice by posting keep or return threads when I was starting out shopping. You have to register to be able to see the pictures, start threads or upload pics. It's just like hanging out at BBB!

I love looking at Angie's outfits too:

Feel free to have a look at my posts too--I haven't been posting as much lately because I've been really busy, but it has all my old posts collected into a "blog":

Give it a try--it's really fun and everyone is so nice and welcoming! I'm about to go to a YLF meetup to meet a bunch of them in Seattle! There are several BBB'ers on the forum at YLF too.

I don't remember what I did when I first started, but now I mostly just read the forums. I usually forget to check the blog, though it's usually full of great suggestions!

I don't visit as much anymore (it's a shopping trigger for me). But for a long time, I was most interested in shopping and styling, so I always read the K/R (keep/return) posts and WIW (what I wore) posts. I also posted a lot in the beginning to see if my style was improving at all or if I just looked like a wannabe, LOL.
