That's what winter is here. Slushy, melty, side of the road ice from last night. Yuk. I had gotten these Sorels http://www.sorel.com/womens-tremblant-mid-boot-1553151.html to replace my white fur mid height sorels from 1994, but they felt too thin for me to have confidence in their warmth. I also did not see myself enjoying cleaning them constantly. What do you wear in the yucky stuff?

I use my Bogs, although they don't grip very well. Super warm and dry though.

Hunters with fleece liners are what I use in NYC to get through all of the slushy icy sidewalks.

Ugg Madera boots! basically patent leather looking, cozy footbed and the grossness washes right off.

Which merrell boots, willow? I'm a merrell addict. I'm wishing for a jungle moc in boot form. Might try to dewbrook sold at rei, if they are in stock. Llbean sold out with a December back order date. Grrr.

I have the Merrell Captiva. I ust got them, so I haven't tried them out in a big cold puddle yet, but I bought them for the waterproofness...

Which LLB snow boots? I've not been able to commit to trying some. Tell me more, please, as a friend in nyc said the same thing.

yesI have 2 pairs of merrell waterproof boots. I have the captiva too, but I consider it my dressing up boot, not my "I'm going to shovel the neighbor's slush so he doesn't bust his 85 yo butt again" boot.

Actually, I have this pair of kids boots which I am not seeing a women's equivalent to, so maybe not so helpful. Although they do come up to a kids 6 which I am guessing would fit similar to a women's 8 (I am usually a women's 6 and the kids 4s fit well). LL Bean shoes seem to run slightly large to me -- their women's shoes start at a 6 and they are always too big for me.

They do have some cuter women's options, I just don't know which ones to recommend :)

Sorry…just seeing this now! I have the Merrell Encore Apex boot. I think they might have discontinued them but I've seen them on ebay and other sites in very limited sizes. They are amazing! Waterproof, comfortable and warm. Highly recommend them if you can find them. This is what they look like: http://www.amazon.com/Merrell-Womens-Encore-Black-Leather/dp/B003P7FPK0
