I'm a "pear" normally but I'm carrying around lots of my baby weight still. I'm looking for a way to emphasize my top and waist and "hide" my belly which is still pretty floppy and unattractive. All of my clothing emphasizes the waist and belly! Any current styles that might work?

Thank you!!

Wear slimming undies, the kind that go up to the bra, to prevent the top of the undies muffin top! I honestly feel more comfortable in them as they hold it in, and I look five to ten pounds lighter. You don't have to wear spanx daily.. there are medium support slimming panties for everyday. I bought a bunch from costco but they no longer sell that type. Maiden form sells affordable options and Soma has some good ones, too. They tend to ride down if they aren't high enough.

Also go for ruching, shirring and wraps. Those tend to look good on me. Ruched clothes can look ridiculous on the hanger so do try them on to get the effect. Avoid empire waists as they scream maternity to anyone who has a belly.

I find that thicker fabrics are more flattering and don't show the bulges as much, and I look good in vnecks or lower cut necks, and I always wear jewelry or scarves. They place the emphasis upwards.

My winter uniform is a sleeveless top covered with a cardigan and maybe a scarf.

Everything she said -- I haven't done the spanx or other unders but vneck. Ruching. Thicker fabric. Try stuff on even if it doesn't jump off the hanger at you. Also I prefer higher waist pants.

and a pattern...i have that wrap dress in an emerald green and i feel like it screams maternity. but i've tried it in patterns, also tanks or sweaters with more of a pattern, and they are much better.

Layer. I use GT's tactics, but I also layer... I've become cardigan girl. It is more flattering. I also like the drop elastic waist tops, they're very flattering. Make sure your tops aren't too baggy, either. I find that even though I'm self conscious about my belly, I still need a top that has some kind of definable waist, nothing is too baggy or shapeless.

Woven fabrics are your friend! They don't cling to every bump and bulge the way that knit fabrics do.

I like pairing woven camis/tanks with cardigans. I don't own these exact camis but like these:

Another tried and true formula for me is a woven button-down top over long cami bunched up with wide-waistband leggings such as:

(I know they show it as a dress but I don't wear it as one:ROTFLMAO:

I can't find a photo, but I like a top (short sleeved) w/ a yoke top & a banded hem...

Ok not yoke top, but how about this?

Wow, thanks for all these! I do have some spanx but they are not super comfortable. If I am wearing something slim (like a fitted dress) I DEFINITELY wear spanx. I don't wear them under jeans, though as they add some thickness and are super uncomfortable worn that way. They do make me feel slimmer and sleeker.

I think cardigans are great. I'm trying to find the right style and weight to keep things looking slim. I am like you--I need to deemphasize the belly but somehow have some definitions on the waist. It is tricky to find!

Thanks all!

I wear maidenform's Control it undies on a daily basis. They are not as restricting as spanx but they still help suck it in lol

Eddie Bauer's curvy boot cut jeans are the perfect mom jeans that are attractive IMHO. Another nice thing is that they have 32" inseam in the regular so I didn't have to buy the tall and have them altered. No need for Spanx under these jeans. These are nice quality jeans and there aren't too stretchy, lots of nice thick cotton. I ordered my normal size and they fit great. I am tempted to try the curvy straight jeans so I can stick them inside my boots.

Cardigan wise I am loving this one (I got it in black):
