Any comparison on sound of this one v. The full sized one? If this is the same I am in. We have been looking for one for the girls room, they are the only one still using a fan.

Tempted by this. Question for those of you that use sound machines, how well do they really block out noise versus a ceiling fan?
I work nights, sleep days, and even with ear plugs and the ceiling fan on, I can sometimes get woken up by house sounds. I can't do much about the door bell, but I do turn off the phone. Had never thought of a sound machine.

The marpac sleepmate machines are amazing. A ceiling fan can't begin to compare. Not sure about this marpac product though. Does it have a motor or is it a recording? The sleepmate actually had a whirring motor and sound like a loud box fan. We absolutely love ours.

Looks like they've renamed the sleepmate... now called Dohm-NSF.

This one is a travel model and has a voltage converter built in and plug adapters included.

From what I understand, it doesn't have a fan but it doesn't use a recording either; the machine synthesizes random sounds so you don't get hear patterns repeating. But I may be wrong about that. You could contact Marpac and ask. They have amazing customer service.
