I got an open box ipad mini2 from Bestbuy.com. It is a gift for MIL (after I missed the deal on the brand new one) so I haven't opened it and tried it out yet. It is geek squad certified and is supposed to look and run like new. Check their website or maybe call a store?

We bought a refurb from Apple and then a warranty through square trade. It's been a few years and haven't had a problem.

Did the glass just break but still works? If that's the case you can get the screen replaced for a lot less. Check Groupon for a local place near you. I just dropped my iPhone 5--was planning to trade it in next week--and for $45 I have a whole new screen and face plate. iPads are more expensive but still a whole lot less than a new iPad.
