Looking for recommendation for a board game for a 6 yo boy and single mom to play; something hopefully fun - but it's most often just the two of them. I seem to remember most games are more fun with more players, but that's not likely here.

Thank you!

DS1 is newly 6 and enjoys backgammon which is only a 2 player game. We also enjoy Farkle and Uno which can be played with more players.

Jenga (not a board game but my kids love the strategy)
Trouble
Farkle
Uno
Mousetrap
Jam Pack Jam (not a board game but kids loved it)
Yahtzee (we have a Muppet version that is cute)
Sum Swamp
Connect 4 and Launchers version
Head Bandz Act Up (not sure if this is supposed to be 2-person but we sometimes play it as such)
Maybe Rack-o
Spot-it
Nada
Guess Who? (!!!)

Guess Who (Disney character) and Trouble (Frozen) are at AC Moore for $4.99!! The Spot-It, Nada, and Farkle are also at AC Moore and coupon-able so you can get them at 50-55% off depending on your coupon. :)

How about a 100- or 500-piece puzzle? We started doing those with the kids when they were that age. Just make sure it is not monotone...needs lots of color clues. :)

My girls love Mancala. My just turned 6 year old is starting to get the hang of it on her own. My 8 year old is learning some good strategies to use with it! Zingo is also a favorite here.

Did you know The Ladybug Game was created by a six year old? Great game, great lesson for your kid on what's possible.

Wow! We have it and Zingo but haven't played either yet. My DS loves checkers, tic tac toe, the tippy clown game (can't remember what that's called), candy land, and is getting better at card games and chess.

My 6 yr old likes to play Zingo, Trouble (scooby doo version), Guess Who and Sum Swamp. His absolute faves are card games though. We have a Cars Go Fish game and Ninja Turtle Uno Game.

Second vote for Mancala. DD2 got it for her 5th birthday and loves it. It's a simple game but takes thought and strategy, so it's not boring for the parent.
