Boys Merrell hiking shoe $17

I've been looking for hiking boots for my DS's and stumbled on these merrells for $16.97! Looks like it's only the green/orange combo and they're a shoe instead of a boot, but that's what they liked anyway.

I'm confused about the gender on these? Are they boys or girls? The only reason I ask is for sizing (or is that irrelevant for kids sizing?!?). Don't want them to be too small.

I was just wondering the same thing. Was about to order for my son and noticed these are listed as girls' shoes. I looked up the boys' version and they are not marked down nearly as low. I think the green/orange could pass for a boy, but would sizing run differently?

Can't help with the sizing question, so maybe someone else can.

I am so bummed because I showed these shoes to ds and he says he does not like them at all. He goes through shoes like they're disposable, so I really wish he would wear these. Sigh. He did end up saying that he would wear them if I really wanted him to, and I originally told him no, if he really didn't like them that was okay. I don't suppose anyone has any selling points for an 8 year old? He does tend to like black sneakers, but does like orange and green, so not sure what the issue is other than there are things he likes and things he just doesn't!

We got ours a few days ago and it does say girls shoe on the box. Nothing about it is girly though, and both DSs like them. My 7yo DS wears a 1.5 and the 2 fits great. I ordered a few other sizes too; I can't even find shoes at Target for under $17!
