I know the girls will need new coats before next fall and I would love to buy them on clearance at the end of this season. Anyone have tips or deals?

There's the Gap 50% off sale stuff online, & I saw at least one girls' puffer/ warmest coat; not sure if it's the size you need, but maybe there would be something. Otherwise I always like Lands End or our local Once Upon A Child. :)

Consignment sales are a great place to find gently used coat if you don't mind used.

For new coats, I have bought a few at Costco and the prices tend to be lower than what I see online. You might also want to keep an eye on Sierra Trading Post. From time to time they run amazing deals and (at least this was true in the past) if you use their app it included free shipping too. Their return policy is awesome too - so if the girls outgrow the coat by the time winter comes around, they'll take it back with tags on, no questions asked.

Lands' End stormer jacket is a great deal right now: http://www.landsend.com/products/girls-stormer-jacket/id_279343

They have a bunch of other styles marked down right now too, if this one isn't what you need. Call your local store (in Sears) as well. They sometimes have better prices or different things on sale.

LLBean has a bunch too. There were some awesome deals in-store, way better prices than the website. I got DS a mogul jumper jacket for $39.99 and it was $84 online. If you call a store I believe they will ship to you (but not free shipping like the website)

I would also check all the department stores, I know Lord&Taylor is clearancing women's coats. Check Macy's, bon-ton, Dillard's (is that all that's left of department stores?) We're still wearing the coats we got 2 years ago at the Rothschild kids sale. It looks like 75% off (but slim pickings) right now

Thanks a bunch guys! Great ideas. I am realizing the last time I bought real coats for them was the Lands End puffers when they were like 4/5. They wore those for a couple years and then moved into their current coats which were matching Rothschild puffers that my mom found at a thrift store (with twin names written inside!). We also really liked the fleece pea coats from LE as a lighter coat but they don't have the size and color they would want. If they go down in price I might still grab them at the less desirable color. Also, they need size 9! I'm seeing some places have 7/8 and then 10/12....

It sure seems like most kids' clothes don't have a size 9. We're not there yet, so I hadn't paid much attention. You might just have to go with a brand that runs on the smaller side and get the 10/12.

This is another great jacket. We use it in fall, but it would probably work all winter in warmer climates.

FYI do not put this coat in the dryer! I put DD's in and it shrunk! I will be returning it! It says you can tumble dry low which is what I did but it still shrunk :(

I don't think you'll find a size 9. I've been looking for a year now and I only have 7/8 and 10/12. A few brands have 8/10, but I don't recall which off the top of my head. I'll try to check my closet to see. I do know that my son is swimming in the next size up but the size 8 will be a tight fit next year.

Thanks guys! I went to Kohls and Burlington yesterday and both were cleaned out of coats. But Amazon has a great deal today so I bought them Rothschild coats and also a toggle jacket each. So assuming sizing is correct we should be good for next season!
