DS has thick wiry hair. I need to find him a product to help define and hold. Drugstore products (ie not too expensive and easy to obtain) would be awesome! Attaching 2 pictures to show the look he is going for.

Gatsby styling wax from Amazon is inexpensive and comes to your door. :)

Thanks for the replies. DS uses a gel now for his hair and it doesn't really last long to keep his hair in any style. Worse yet, he has to use a ton of product and it sometimes leaves a white residue/flakes after it dries.

At Walmart, there is some stuff in a blue jar, green lid, about the size of a roll of masking tape. I can't think of the name. I think it's by the Bed Head people. It's basically hair glue. When I spike DGSs' hair, that's what I use.

DH uses hair paste by Axe for that type of styling. http://www.target.com/p/axe-whatever-messy-look-hair-paste-2-64-oz/-/A-11067723?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=google_pla_df&LNM=11067723&CPNG=Health+Beauty&kpid=11067723&LID=17pgs&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=11067723&kpid=11067723&gclid=CLWlkuv_m8QCFU-TfgodKXkA6g

No suggestions, but I had to reply to say I'm jealous your son cares enough to want to groom himself! Lol. Ds1 (just turned 12) has no such concern. ;)

After some searching, I found it. Not Bed Head after all. It's FX Surf Head. Teal tub, lime green lid, about $5 at Walmart.

I found gel doesn't hold like hairspray for my ds. He wets his hair styles and finishes with Ausie spray.

Usually DS doesn't care about his hair (or clothes or even showering for that matter lol) but he'll style it for band concerts, school pictures and sometimes church. He's in fifth grade and is just starting to get curious about things like deodorant, voice changing etc. Puberty Night is coming up soon at school -lucky DH gets to take him :sly: I figure I get the easy way out and can help with grooming and clothes.

Ha. Well, I'm told by those who have gone before me ;) that once they start getting interested in girls it completely changes and you have the smell of Axe wafting through the house at all times. Not sure which is worse- greasy haired I showered 6th grader or mega strength cologne? :D
