I am two months shy of turning 38. I wear a 9.5 or 10 W in most shoes. I am looking for a black sandal I can wear with a variety of summer clothes. I thought these fit the bill until I noticed the velcro on the heel strap. I have been fighting for trendy non "sneaker" set shoes (senior citizen shoes) since I was 12. So would you wear these shoes or not?

I wouldn't have noticed. Other people probably won't either.

I don't think the Velcro part is noticeable, if that is your concern. I would wear those with a summer dress, skirt or jeans. But I probably wouldn't wear them on an everyday basis. When I wear an every day sandal, the highest I go is a kitten heel although I do wear wedges that are high with shirts and even capris.

I think ink your sandals would stay stylish for several years since the platform is barely noticeable.

It's not obvious, I'd do it. My orthaheels have a similar strap and you'd never know unless you tried to change the strap setting.

I don't think the velcro is problematic, I just don't prefer those shoes. How about:

I actually have some black sandals which look very similar and have a Velcro closure as well.

They are called Munro Abby and they are SUPER comfy and I can wear them all day, even on call at the hospital when I am on my feet/walking all day.
I bought a 1/2 size up from my normal size shoe because my heel was hanging off the back a bit in my usual size.
I have the black suede and the dye did rub off on my toes the first several times I wore it but I think it seems better now.
It looks like they make it in black leather now too.

I know what you mean about the velcro but I think those are ok. I have a pair that have a similar closure, I think it solves a problem of not having to mess with a metal buckle closure rubbing against your ankle, being not quite the right fit, being impossible to close, etc. It's much more streamlined than a big strap of velcro over the front.

I have those shoes in patent leather. I don't think they're senior citizen at all. I'd be impressed if I saw Granny rocking heels that high. They're definitely dress shoes because of the heel for me, not summer sundress sandals. I am not a heels girl though normally. :)

If you're looking for casual summer sandals with a heel, consider these. I have both, and find them comfortable. This brand comes in wide and double-wide.

Eta: I realize the second pair are a warm weather bootie more than a sandal, but because of the open toe and perforated leather I will be wearing them in the summer.

Honestly, I would never have noticed the velcro on the sandal. If you like it and find them comfortable, go for it! I would be suffering badly after 10 minutes in heels that high!
