I am in need of new very functional, probably waterproof (not necessity though), extremely comfy and supportive summer sandals that aren't too sporty, but not dressy either. I have nerve damage in one foot which makes it....interesting...to wear any shoes. Heels are out, as are wedges because my leg/foot still have very little strength.

I tried on either this pair or something almost exactly like it in DSW and thought they felt nice and I like the style, but I've never owned Jambu sandals. Anyone have them and like them? Anything else similar to consider? I'd like either a brown/tan/taupe/bronze shade if possible.

Here's the one I liked:

I haven't owned any sandals but have been happy with closed toe styles from the brand. If you like them and the price is right I'd definitely give them a try since the reviews look good.

I don't have nerve damage but have fussy feet and also like Teva, Merrell and sometimes Orthaheel sandals. The first two definitely lean sporty but they usually have a few styles that are more neutral casual.

I also really like the Born Mai sandals but they are not waterproof. http://www.zappos.com/born-mai-panna-cotta-silver-metallic

I did not find Jambu sandals very sturdy. I've been delighted with my Ahnu Maia sandals and just bought a second pair. Other brands of sandals I own/like are Dansko, Naot and Teva. (Danskos have a slight heel so probably won't work for you.) I don't have nerve damage but I have very fussy feet!

OP, I have these sandals. I like them a lot but would not consider them very supportive. My foot moves around a bit with each step since you cannot tighten the straps to get a snug, secure fit. In your situation I would look for something that hugs your foot better.

I have Teva Tirra sandals and LOVE them. They are a bit on the sportier side, but I do wear them with skirts. They are super comfy, and I often walk in them all day. They are 2 years old, and still look new, even though I wear them almost every day in the spring/summer.

I second the ahnu brand. I bought my first PR last month and am really impressed with the quality and comfort. Orthaheels is another favorite of mine, but they aren't as sporty looking, if that's what you're looking for.

Those Borns are super cute. We are going to NYC in a couple weeks and I need shoes that I can walk in on sidewalks that are less sporty than my normal Tevas (although I plan to switch to high heels when we get to nice restaurants etc). Do you think these would fit the bill?

I have some Merril's that look very similar to those Teva's. I have had them for at least 3 years and they still look great. I can wear them all day with no issues, and they have been wet many times.

OP, have you looked at these? I considered these when looking for some functional sandals--I ended up buying the Keen Rose, but the reviews on these are outstanding! http://www.amazon.com/Jambu-Blossom-Womens-Flat/dp/B0093KRA8I/ref=pd_sim_309_12?ie=UTF8&refRID=16SJHJDBYCN3E3S6N9V0

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll have to think about the Jambu's not holding my feet securely....that's good to know. I'll look into the ahnu's. And I have also looked at some Teva's, but I can't remember which one off the top of my head.
