View Full Version : UPDATE IN #22. skirts like the ON fold over...but nicer?

I have a few of the ON skirts, but the material is thin and after a season they look pretty tired, IMO. I'd like something that's the same general idea, but a bit nicer - heavier fabric that doesn't cling so much or pill, a bit more flattering. I have several Athleta skorts, but would prefer something that's a jersey fabric.

Any suggestions?

REI always has some good stuff.
Target has some similar ones that look decent.
LL Bean has this http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/78724?feat=503101-GN2&page=fusion-knit-skirt&attrValue_0=Classic%20Black&productId=1310144
Gap has some http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1010680&vid=1&pid=516090002

This one is a full length skirt and not 100% jersey..it has a chiffon overlay: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/max-mia-crinkled-maxi-skirt-regular-petite/3261791?origin=saveforlater
I have it in the lipstick color, which is a bright coral-ish red that screams summer.
It's not a heavy fabric, but it definitely does not cling and is very flattering. I don't know why it's always on "sale" for 40% off. I bought mine last year and I've never seen the price change.

I highly recommend the Colorado Clothing skirts that were at Costco the last couple of years. They are just what you are asking for - no pill fabric, nicer than ON, can be dressed up or down. They don't have them at Costco anymore, but there are quite a few on ebay. I love mine.

How does sizing run in these?

I have on a Costco Colorado clothing skirt on now. I love it! I actually prefer the non-roll waistband eventhough I have about 5 of the ON skirts. There is less bulk with the non-roll.

I like these convertible skirts from Eddie Bauer:
Skirt to Dress (http://www.eddiebauer.com/product/women-s-aster-convertible-dress-to-skirt/23150339/_/A-ebSku_0311208100000050__23150339_catalog10002_en__ US?showProducts=&backToCat=Dresses%20_%20Skirts&previousPage=GNAV&tab=women&color=100) I have a few of these, and the length is a bit shorter than shown on their model when I wear them. I occasionally wear them as a dress to the beach, but primarily wear as a skirt.

Here is a link to Colorado Clothing skirts on ebay. I am an 8 or 10 and wear a medium. I think they are pretty true to size, maybe a hair big?

The Old Navy fold over skirt did nothing for me either so last summer I bought three of the Colorado Clothing Company skirts from Costco and I love them. I wear them to work, church, a dinner out, or even just to run errands when it is really hot. I really like them. I haven't really looked for clothes at Costco recently so I don't know if they have them again, but I highly rec. them if you see them.

Yes, but sadly the same company doesn't sell that same model on their website, they sell a slightly shorter short model, which would work (for me at least) for running errands, vacations, etc. where I don't want to wear shorts, but definitely not for work or church. The price is great though.

If you look on the eBay link above I have the black striped one, blue stripe, and the blue print one. Those are the ones they had at Costco. I am a 12-14 on bottom and bought the large.

GAP has foldover skirts too that are probably better quality than the Old Navy ones. They also have some with a different hem, they are calling them trapeze skirts.

I have 6 of those Colorado Clothing skirts from Costco. Obviously, I LOVE them. I get compliments when I wear them. I tried the ON skirts and hated the fold over. It added bulk where I did not need bulk. I wear size 10 pants and have mostly Large skirts. One is a medium and fits fine too, but I tend to buy my clothes larger than I probably should.

What tops do you wear with the Colorado skirts? I have the hardest time finding tops....

Does anyone have the item# for the skort at Costco? I've looked a few times but haven't seen them and want to call around to some other locations.

I returned my colorado skirt from Costco last year. It gave me VPL.

This Target skirt (I got the orange/white striped, wear it with a navy Merona v-neck) and like it a lot. I have one from last summer in navy/white also. like it a lot! http://www.target.com/p/women-s-striped-skirt-merona/-/A-16573028

So my Colorado Clothing skirt came and I was a little surprised that it is basically bathing suit material. Are they all like that? It's a cute shape, but a bit long for me (I'm very short). I'm glad I got a good deal on it!

Did you order the one from Ebay or directly from the company? They are light weight which is part of the reason I like them. I don't have any issues with them.

Colorado Clothing Co skirts / skorts reviews:

I ordered one from ebay and two skorts from the website. I ordered a small skirt and it's a bit big on me and a tad too long. I'm 5' and 112 lbs and ordered the small. I'm thinking it will fit my sister so it's fine. The skorts I got from the website fit great. I love them! They're a tad shorter than I wear everyday but they're going to be perfect for amusement parks and park play dates this summer! Thanks!

I ordered it from Amazon. It looks like the material a skating costume would be made from (it even had a sheen to it), and is definitely not lightweight. I was hoping for more of a jersey type skirt - the one I got looks likes swimwear. Maybe it's not the same as the Costco ones?

Mine is like a thicker workout fabric.
