Heading for a three week trip to Europe later this summer...London, Paris and the Swiss Alps. Attempting to take as little as possible and aiming for two pairs of shoes (one will likely just be Keens which should hold up for "hiking" with DD). Need a recommendation of other (nicer looking) shoes that can stand up to walking/touring in the cities (and standing in lines...lots and lots of lines) and look nice enough to wear with a dress to dinner/theatre/etc. I wear mostly minimalist shoes in the summer, but will likely need some support and protection. Thoughts?

TIA

I don't know if these look nice enough for you but I just got back from a few weeks in Europe where we walked all day long and these shoes were phenomenal- I had the grey and pink.

AND I should add I have super fussy feet that always hurt.

I splurged on some Ecco sandals to wear for a wedding when I was pregnant with DS1. They were really comfy and ended up being my go to shoe for work through the fall, and the whole next summer. I have also had really comfortable low heeled Sofft sandals that were a little dressy.

Love my Cole Haan Avery ballet shoes, so comfy. When I travel I pack those and a pair of sneakers!

I recently bought these on sale at Nordstroms, and I find them to be very comfortable.

Last summer we spent 2 weeks in Provence and last August I spent a week in London. I knew we were going to do a lot of walking and since my feet hurt most of the time, I wanted something very comfortable. Some ladies here recommended this brand and they are wonderful. I brought these with on both trips: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D2ZF8PW/ref=twister_B00UYKYK5W in bronze. I wore them with capris, some knee length skirts and some nice-quality maxi skirts. The beads dress them up a bit and are really pretty. I really liked that they didn't make me look like a tourist. But most importantly they were incredibly comfortable. When we went to the theater I brought a pair of dress-up heels but I only planned to wear them the night we were taking a taxi to dinner and a show. Otherwise, these were my go-to shoes. I actually saw them for sale in a little shoe boutique in France too (course they were charging a lot more money!). I also brought some comfy closed-toe loafers for the days it was predicted to rain in London. But I wore these, mainly while I was there.

I've found them to be excellent quality and have held up very well. I think they will last me several years.

Enjoy your vacation!

Have a wonderful time!

I would go with a wedge sandal from a "comfort" brand like Ecco, Dansko or Naot (the sort of brands you find at The Walking Company)...something that could be dressed up or down. I've never found ballet flats supportive enough for all day walking (bear in mind that I am also short and regularly wear heels).

I recently spent a week walking around Spain wearing a pair of black Aerosoles Wedges, a pair of Sam Edelman studded sandals with a lowish chunky heel, and the Pikolino shoes I bought in Madrid. But I know most people are more comfortable in sneakers.

Somebody on here recommended Hotter shoes last year. They are the most comfortable ballet shoes I've ever tried on, and I tried dozens of pairs last year. I have these flats (http://www.hotter.com/us/en/womens/viewallwomens/jewel-shoes-cl) (on sale 50% off right now!) and wore them sight seeing around London with no blisters, and they're my go-to shoes for church/park/shopping/whenever I don't want to wear my Rainbow sandals. :)

AustenFan - the Hotter shoes look great! I had not heard of this brand, but generally like leather comfort shoes. I am very tempted by the sale. It is time for me to get new pair of flats/lowish heels for work, but I've been putting it off since I mostly work from home these days.

The Jewel flat is really pretty in the deep teal, but I'm also liking this wedge in light taupe - http://www.hotter.com/us/en/periwinkle-wedges-cl. Have not had anything in either of those colors before, so I'm a little unsure about what will look good with what. Most of my shoes are black, or more recently metallic leather.
