Picked up a few Sistema pieces at Michaels today, they were on sale 50% off so $2.50-$3.50 each. They also had their own brand bento and some other pieces also 50% off.

What is the cube?

What is the cube?

It's a square plastic container that fits inside a lunch bag (LL Bean or Lands' End etc.) It latches on one side, then when you open it one side is divided into 2 sections, and the other side has a hinged lid. So you end up with one large compartment (with lid) and 2 smaller ones. The lids hinge so there aren't any parts to lose. You can fit a sandwich and 2 sides. I put it with a Funtainer in DS's lunch bag and it fits perfectly. I can even add a slim ice pack if I am sending hard boiled eggs or something else that needs to stay cold.

Love sistema but hate the cube. I found it took up a lot of space in DDs LE lunch tote. All the other sistema pieces are in heavy rotation and look like new after 3yrs.

This is us, exactly. I found it to be really cumbersome and awkward.

What Sistema pieces do you have? I have only seen them at a couple of stores and there are limited pieces. I looked online and found the snack attack duo, which would be great for lunches, but I have not seen this in stores and is over $16 at amazon.com. Just wondering if that piece is commonly available and if so, where?

The Container store is my best guess. We went there today after striking out at Michael's last week. We got the regular cubes (we've used them for years and find the 1-piece idea great for packing 3 lunches and washing them.) also we upgraded to the bigger twist n sip water bottles.

I've found them at Old Navy and Wegmans. I have the sandwich size (thin square), the divided rectangle, and the snack.

Mine are in different colors like pink, green, and blue.

My Marshall's and TJ Maxx have tons of Sistema. I think they have the sandwich container in 2 pack for $4.99 or $5.99?

I wanted to say thank you for this post last week.. I decided to give the cube a try after reading this. My 5.5-year-old is starting kindergarten in a couple of weeks, and I still hadn't locked down on a lunch container besides the Funtainer food jar. I had him practice opening the cube at Target and it seemed to be the easiest thing for him to open--with Lunchblox, he keeps turning the dish on the side to get leverage. So we'll see how it goes!

Thanks for the info. No Marshall's near me, but I'll try TJM the next time I'm nearby.

Does anyone know if these stain if you put something like red pasta sauce in them?
