Any suggestions. I have read the other threads but they mostly gave suggestions further down the cape. Anything in the hyannis area?

I would live to take a ride to the drive in in wellfleet. So maybe a restaurant on the way. Other than that I would like to stay near our hotel.
Thanks. My buys are 5 and 9. Thanks again.

I've never stayed in Hyannis but I drive there sometimes to shop. The traffic around town can be really challenging, especially Iyannough Rd, and I'd pay a little more for a location near the beach (or town or whatever activity you'd like to do most). I drive past the Doubletree every time I go to Hyannis and it looks beautiful but it is in a very icky location, near a bunch of run down/empty buildings, on a busy road, with a view of the airport. I've never been to the beaches in Hyannis, so I can't recommend one over another. I've taken the ferry to Martha's Vineyard from Hyannis, and it was a really fun day trip, especially the Flying Horses Carousel (http://www.mvpreservation.org/p.php/preservation/community/flying-horses?_f=w) where you collect rings as you go around and try to get a brass one to win a free ride.

You can head to the harbor and grab a boat charter from there. One of the companies (can't remember the name but it's the big one and they have a little shack/booth) have the morning sailings where it's free for kids.

You're close to Yarmouth for Pirates Cove mini golf.

Hyannis is quite possibly the least cape like of any of the towns on the cape. It's much more of a city with bigger shops and stores and one of only two hospitals on the cape. It's really going to depend on what area of town you are staying in. I believe there is a little downtown area (not the main shopping/mall area) and if you are near a beach or lake that might be an obvious choice. If you are staying more in the mall/airport area you'll probably want to get in your car to go somewhere as that's much more like what you find anywhere.

This is in Sandwich. I've no idea how bad traffic makes the trip but only 15 miles away. DH and I went there probably in the 90s and it appears they've added more kid stuff. We loved the car museum and I like carousels. I think there was also a military museum? but don't see that on their website now.

We were staying in Hyannis Port and DH doesn't remember the drive being bad at all.

I've stayed at 2 places in the Hyannis area but not Hyannis itself, both about 15-20 min away (per Google Maps):

Both were nice, are beachfront and have pools. We didn't do much other than beach and pool.

Thanks found a cheap hotel with an indoor and outdoor pool plus breakfast. Nothing fancy.
