This one should be fine. Iirc the gunky ones were the older style with a fat twisting band to attach the brush head instead of the ones that slide on like this.

Oh yes, the ones with the fat twisting band definitely get gunky! Wish I hadn't bought a 2-brush set with lots of extra refill heads when Costco had a particularly good sale!
So do the brush heads on the new style stay on firmly? I remember reading some bad reviews but maybe that was their first unsuccessful attempt at non-gunkiness.

I've had both types and I think both types have gotten gunky.

We have the Sonicare Essence, which gets gross and gunky. I am eager to try out our new Oral B brushes as soon as I am done with my Sonicare brushheads. The Oral B ones are discounted right now at Costco (both the heads and the brushes).

Yes, we bought Oral B because I could not stomach what I saw on Sonicare--but we had older model. I just can't forget that gross stuff and always associate it with Sonicare.

I bought these http://thesonicseal.com/ from Amazon and it has totally prevented any gunk on my old style sonicares.

revamping this thread as i am now toothbrush shopping...does the gunk/mold issue happen with kids sonicare as well?
i have an oral B which gets gunky, but it's not really moldy...i don't think i'll order a kids sonicare if it gets legitimately moldy...
