What to wear to wedding.

I have friends getting married this Saturday. The ceremony is at 2 p.m. and will be held in a garden. The reception is at 6 p.m. and will be held at an upscale reception hall.

The invitation reads quote "semi formal". The bride is going to wear a gown and the groom is going to wear a suit to the ceremony. For reasons that surpass understanding, the groom has decided to wear a tuxedo to the reception, but none of the guests have been asked to do so.

I was going to wear a little black dress, but I still have a few pounds to go on my diet and the one I have that is in a fabric suitable for social occasions does not fit.

I would wear small platform reptile beige peep toes and an appropriate hat to the ceremony and then take off the hat and where a silk wrap if needed at the reception.

Hmm. My impression is that looks very summery. So it qualifies as semi formal I'm not sure about it.

I agree a bit summery and not really semi formal, maybe because of the colors and polka dots.

Thanks for the advice.

I talked to two other people who were going and both of them planned on changing between the ceremony and the reception. I wore the green polka dot dress for the ceremony and it was perfect, and then changed into an evening tuxedo for the reception.
