My mom wants to know what I want for Hanukkah.
For the last year, I have been looking for a new purse. I want nice soft leather, but I also need it to be functional. I need a cross-body so it can be hands free, and it has to be large enough to fit a water bottle and a kindle fire 7 when we go out to dinner. Baggalinis have all the function I'm looking for but not the style. Does such a thing exist?

Here's a baggalini that would do what I want:

and here is one possibility that I've found:

Have you looked at Roots bags? They may not be quite big enough but worth a look.

If you would consider non leather, check out MZ Wallace.

There are often leather Sak bags similar to the costco one you linked at my TJ Maxx and sometimes even Ross, if you want to check out some of their similar styles in person (and do a test fill/carry with what you want it to hold :) ). Marshalls is also probably a good option. I have a bag from Sak from a few years back and the leather is buttery soft, but the newer ones don't feel quite as nice (maybe they soften up with time though).

Hammitt bags are very popular around here and would definitely fit the bill (though a big sale is preferred). http://www.hammitt.com/collections/cross-body/products/montana-rev

Lots of nice Hobo International options.

Hobo bags have nice, soft leather, cute lining, and lots of pockets. You can find them at Zappos, if you want to try some out with free shipping/free returns.

I have that Sak bag and it is fine. Not as durable as Baggalini or a higher end leather bag, and the lining is cotton, which I didn't like. Have you tried Kipling? Just as durable and a little "cooler" than Baggalini. Not leather though. People around here love Vera Bradley. I love Roots quality but some of the bags are heavy. I love Hobo for wallets but never tried their purses. I will be following to see what you pick!

I have that Sak bag, it was at Costco for a while. It's a good bag, but the negatives are, I found it hard to get into compared to a Baggalini and it has a cloth strap with a buckle (to adjust length) that makes it feel like a diaper bag to me.... which is also my complaint with every Baggalini.

Hobo Brand is definitely much nicer, but I'm too cheap to buy one.

I've had a couple Tignanello bags that I've liked - the leather is nice and they're really functional. And not too pricey!

Macy's has a larger crossover (http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/tignanello-classic-icon-leather-large-crossbody?ID=2231667&CategoryID=26846&LinkType=#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D46%26slotId%3D16%26kws %3Dtignanello)in a couple colors.

Agree. MZW has the functionality of Baggalini but way, way more stylish and less mom bag like.

Thanks everyone! I had completely forgotten about Roots - that was the thing when I was in about 5th grade. I saw some on ebay that look nice.
I saw one really good possibility for a Hobo -

and Tiganello is a good thought too - my mom has one and it does have really soft leather.

wellyes, I feel the same way about baggalinis - like I'm carrying a diaper bag. I need the functionality of a mom bag but I don't want it to look like one!

Hobo is probably the top of the budget - my mom got my sister a Fitbit Surge, so I know she's willing to go to about $200.

I just discovered that Baggalini has a better looking line called Mosey - has anyone tried it? This may be the answer to my problem, though not leather. But at least it doesn't look so frumpy.

I'm far from being fashion forward, but I do have a Mosey bag. It's actually this one but in a crimson red color. I get a lot of compliments on it when I'm out.

http://www.amazon.com/Mosey-Life-Womens-Crossbody-Spearmint/dp/B00ID3IQKW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449076155&sr=8-1&keywords=mosey

I really like it for the functionality. The pocket on the front holds my cell phone perfectly. The diagonal pocket (although small) is easy to access when wearing it cross-body. I usually put my keys there.

It has held up well. No fraying of the lining or pockets. The only complaint that I have is that it is starting to look dirty. I need to see about washing it.

Amazon tends to have hobo bags discounted/covered with coupons- I have quite a few and never gotten close to paying full price

I love Kipling bags which I found out about on here! Not leather, but this line is dressier than the others.

So as a long-time Baggallini user, this is exactly my question! Thanks for asking it. I'm totally spoiled by the convenience and lightness of Bagallini. I also know that the newer ones aren't as nicely made as the older one I have - I ordered and returned one on amazon.com recently. I have to say, the Mosey bags look tackier than Baggallni to me, so not sure they're that much "nicer" looking.

I saw these Shiraleah bags at a local boutique and they're really beautiful: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CC3S3SO?keywords=shiraleah&qid=1449128601&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 - vegan leather, but you would not be able to tell. And affordable too - MZWallace is a bit more than I plan to spend on a everyday handbag, looking for something under $100.

My mom just ordered the Hobo Lorna that I linked above. The Amazon code today brought it down to $140.
Thanks for all the input.
