Christmas has totally snuck up on me this year and I'm so far behind (we don't even have a tree yet!!!) I've barely done any shopping and haven't bought a single thing for the stockings yet! So I need ideas! Isn't there usually a stocking thread? I didn't see one this year. My boys are 12 and 6, but post what you got for all ages.

We put our tree up- just the actual tree, no lights or ornaments yet- tonight finally.

Amazon has a list of toys for sale under $10. My kids are a lot younger then yours but you may want to browse it under 'today's deals' filtered for toys.

Good question. Blind boxes of some kind. Pencil eyeliner for DD1. Lip balm for DD2. Clarinet reeds for DD1 maybe? Something crafty for DD2? I don't know. We still have tomorrow to shop for them.

What are Blind boxes?

Blind boxes are sealed boxes or bags with one of several different items (usually figurines, sometimes zipper pulls or something) inside. Generally, they are themed in some way. If you are a fan of something, there is a blind box for it. You can get Minecraft and Lego figures at Target for example.

We do some candy (miniature chocolate santas, Frozen themed candies of some sort, and chocolate eggs with a mystery Star Wars toy inside), chapsticks (I bought those sets that have cola flavors or jolly rancher flavors...something fun), toothbrushes, slipper socks, and of course, an orange in the toe. I bought some candy and hand warmers for DH's stocking. The dog is getting a new toy and some dog treats. Not sure what will be in my stocking...DH takes care of that. But, all stocking stuff is from Santa as far as the kids know, so DH and I have to be secretive about the stuff we buy for each other.

Mystery packs? Is that what you mean? I think that's what Lego calls them. Never heard the blind box term.

I have 3 kids - 15 y.o. boy, 10 y.o. girl, 6 y.o. boy.

So far I have:
candy
toiletries - brush for 6 yo, small conditioner for 10 yo, styling creme for 15 yo
pimple cream for 15 yo (sounds bad, but he'll be excited)
eos lip balm
star wars trading cards
scratch-its lottery tickets

I usually also add:
cool pens or pencils
small toys - bouncy balls, cars, ceramic animals, etc.
stickers
...but not sure I will this year as they *really* don't need any more of that and our house is full of little stuff already! May add $5 GCs to local frozen yogurt or something similar instead.

for DH:
nick stick for shaving
candy
champagne resealer cork for recapping big beers
lottery ticket

Have twelve yo boys and 14 yo girl. All three: Toblerone candy bars, headphone splitters, fuzzy socks, random holiday chocolate. Boys: A particular pokemon card one wants, a specific Lego Ninjago packet the other wants. Girl: A nice colored lip gloss. Was considering a lottery ticket for each, but will probably do that next year instead. Last year they got ear buds in their stockings, among other things.

Nail clippers are making it this year. Maybe an iTunes card. Some candy.
I found some colorful enamel nail clippers at CVS and added those to our kids' stockings last year. Got the idea when one of my kids got a neat nail clipper in a goodie bag from a birthday party at one point. Weird, but they all liked them!

DD loves the mini hand sanitizers from Bath and Body. $10 iTunes gift certifies, a subscription to American Girl magazine, a book of puzzles. DS gets the iTunes gift certif--he used to always get the "blind box" lego minifigs. DH is in charge of his stocking. I need to get lip balms for DD.

Thanks so much everyone for all the ideas! I stopped at Target today to pick up a few things and also ordered some stuff on Amazon. My kids also have big stockings that seem to take forever to fill!!! I guess I didn't think of that when I got them years ago!

My grandmother made our stockings, and they were awesome but ridiculously huge! My parents cursed her every year as they tried to make them seem somewhat full :)

I get each kid a pair of long, silly socks each year. They are great for filling the bottom of the stocking LOL!

I think we're getting her a tin kaleidoscope and small candies.

I'd also like to get her lip balm - there's a pink-and-white (strawberries & cream?) EOS balm that I think she'd love.

We usually do chocolate coins from the See's stand in the mall because Trader Joe's are all sold out (should have thought about theirs before Chanukah), Hershey's kisses, and sometimes Hershey's miniatures, lip balm, a new toothbrush (not necessary this yr; I might give her toothpaste), and travel-packs of tissues.
