I'm hosting for the first time! I honk I've for the meal planned out but have no idea what to do for a festive dessert.
ILs dont care for tiramisu, and that's all I can think of.

What do you make??

A Yule Log, maybe?

You can do various trifles, depending on what it is they don't like about tiramisu.

Ooh, I made a great chocolate bread pudding one year. Served with sautéed bananas and homemade cream sauce.

Buche de Noel. It looks very impressive and not too sweet. And it's gluten free to boot.

I use the recipe from Rose Levy's The Cake Bible. The link above has it.

Chocolate cream pie. Easy and delicious (it's just chocolate pudding in a graham cracker crust, topped with whipped cream).

:yeahthat: And serve some Christmas cookies on the side. If you don't have some, maybe you could ask a relative or friend who is invited, to bring some?

Chocolate Mousse! We make it boozy for the grown ups.

To give the mousse a mocha flavor, add 1 tablespoon strong coffee to the bowl with the chocolate to be melted. Alternatively, you can add another flavor when you whisk in the egg yolks; such as 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract, 1/8 teaspoon pure peppermint extract or a drop or two of pure orange oil.

We do chocolate pots de creme for Christmas dessert http://www.melskitchencafe.com/chocolate-pots-de-creme/

Easy peasy, very delicious, and it's a make ahead dessert, so just pull it out and serve on Christmas Eve.
