I am thinking absolutely yes, but here is the backstory. My mom just moved and can't use a fairly new in excellent condition probably high quality couch. It's definitely not my style but it's big and comfortable. We won't be able to do our basement furniture wise for another year or two. It's a light tan leather somewhat circular sectional.

Yep, there's decent slipcovers out there. eta- maybe not for your articular couch but in general, yes.

I am sure you will have no problem giving it away when you are done with it.

Yep! Slip covers, new throw pillows...it can be made less ugly. :) Comfy and free seal the deal for me.

Since you know where it came from and that it's clean I would happily take it.

Big and comfy, yes! Our media room couch is always covered in pillows and blankets so you can barely see our couch anyway.

Most definitely, especially since you know where it came from and it's condition.

Heck yes, especially from my mom or dad! I wouldn't worry about bedbugs or anything freaky being on the furniture from her. Use it and then pay it forward once you find something you like better.

Yep, we had pretty much exactly the same scenario. Light tan leather couch was given to us by some friends. Came with a hideous flower blue area rug. I have loved that the kids and their friends can jump on it in the basement and I don't care. We plan to change it out at some point soon.

:yeahthat: but ours was a "beautiful" verigated blue striped couch from FIL. Shoes? Eh, life goes on. Jumping? Don't hit your head on the wall, and don't let the baby see it. Snacks? Only if the stain would be hidden on blue! It was probably the least anxiety-producing couch we ever had!

This is a very good point!

Comfy, clean, leather, and you have a space where it will be heavily used and guests won't necessarily see it?
Absolutely!!! Get some fun throw pillows and call it a day! Enjoy your stress-free couch!

I agree with the others. Use it until you can replace it with something you like better.
