Help me find some options for a cute, affordable crossbody bag/purse. Looking to spend under $50 if possible. I have a red leather Kate Spade handbag that I've been using daily and it's starting to get pretty scuffed up - plus it isn't convenient with kids- so I'd like to find something for every day and keep the KS for nicer occasions. The only other bag I have right now is a giant Coach diaper bag tote. I've sold all my mid sized diaper bags and had long ago sold purses because I was deep in diaper bag land! ;) Now that my kids are older I need something that will fit my daily essentials and also maybe a few small snacks or such for kid outings when I don't need a full sized backpack or diaper bag but also (hopefully!) look pulled together so I'm not constantly having to change bags. May be seeking the impossible here but ?

I almost bought a Haiku messenger on the local BST yesterday similar to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/HAIKU-Vegan-Faux-Leather-Messenger-Bag-/252413863019?hash=item3ac509e46b:g:6r0AAOSwqBJXU1a x but when I got there I saw that it had stuff spilled inside and was just icky. My fallback will be just getting a Haiku messenger but since I didn't buy that used one I thought I'd look for other styles in case I find something I like better. It's cute, size is ok (maybe a tad big?) but a little "sporty" and super casual. I'll head to TJMaxx and the likes this week to look, as well, but I would love to get ideas in advance.

Sherpani, Fossil, Le Sport Sac can all often be found at a good price.

It's probably more than you want to pay, but I love my marandalee bag from etsy. It's designed by a mom for moms.

I got this bag recently at Nordstrom Rack in a gorgeous orange color for around $50:

It is super comfortable, has great pockets for storage, and zips up for security.

That would be perfect! I always forget about Fossil. That looks like a good size, too. Will have to head to Rack soon and see if I get lucky.

Baggalini makes nice cross body ones. I got both mine on Amazon, but have seen them at Marshalls/TJMaxx also. I like how lightweight they are and how the interior is a bright color so it's easier to find stuff. They also have lots of pockets, but I'm not actually really into pockets, that much.

Another vote for Baggalini. I've gotten 2 at TJ Maxx for $30 ea. in the past.

I have two baggalinis (Sydney and Provence) and a Kipling Alvar. I grab the Alvar most often. Both the Sydney and Alvar I got from Ebay for cheap in like-new condition.

This. I have two Baggalini ones from TJ Maxx. Very lightweight and good storage. I think mine were both under $20 each.

I LOVE my Kipling Alvar, and Kipling has many styles/colors to choose from. The quality is superb, best zippers ever, the crossbody strap is easy and quick to adjust. I use mine daily and have taken it everywhere, including Disneyland and the shoulder strap doesn't even look worn! I can even toss it in the wash when it gets gross. I love that many of the styles don't use velcro (zippers and strong magnetic snaps) because I just hate velcro. I personally like mine so much better than the Baggalini and LeSportsac stuff I've seen at TJMaxx and feel like it's better quality. FWIW I've seen several Baggalinis at TJMaxx with zippers broken or something torn. I did the same thing you're going to do and went scouting for a lightweight durable crossbody and checked all the same places. I'd never heard of Kipling before until I snagged my current Alvar on clearance at Ross, of all places. My girls both have Kipling purses and backpacks and I am tempted to buy more:)

Macy's often has them for good discounts, otherwise check the Kipling website - they're running a sale (40% off select styles, which doesn't happen often!!) and I think today is the last day. I dunno about Amazon, I'd say just be careful since it's possible there could be knockoffs on there.

Here's one that has a messenger-ish style if that's what you like and in your price range with the discount:

I also like this satchel:
