My son turns 5 in a few weeks & loves pirates so I would like to get him a toy pirate ship for his birthday. I would like something that he will not outgrow too quickly & that will withstand lots of play.

Right now my top contenders are this Playmobil ship: https://www.amazon.com/PLAYMOBIL-Red-Serpent-Pirate-Ship/dp/B00JHFF4I2

& this Imaginext one: https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-price-Imaginext-Pirate-Figures/dp/B002LRKB36/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1468653923&sr=1-1&keywords=imaginext+pirate+ship

The Playmobil one looks nice & I like that it comes with 4 pirate figures & can go in water but I worry that it won't be very durable (especially if/when my 2-year-old tries to play with it), may be too hard to assemble (that kind of thing is neither my nor my DH's forte!), & has too many small parts that will inevitably get lost or stepped on (or swallowed by my toddler!).

The Imaginext ship looks really cute & seems much more durable than the Playmobil ship but it costs almost twice as much even though only it comes with 2 pirate figures vs 4 & can't go in water. I would be willing to pay more if it's a high quality toy that will be played with a lot, though

Any thoughts from those who own either of these toys would be most appreciated, as would any other suggestions!
