Beautiful.
Question, does the floor opening under the wall of cabinets go all the way to the back, or just a little bit for looks? I can't imagine what could get lost under there, like the stuff you find under the stove and fridge when they get moved.
I love your pendant lamps as well over the island.

Yea and no. The sides have a toe kick, the middle section doesn't. The cats have been going in the middle section with their toys...

Thanks, all! It was so nice preparing and eating breakfast in here... NOT in the basement!

billysmommy -- I kept meaning to tell you that these are Dura Supreme cabinets. The GC/KA we ended up using carries them.

I bet! We redid our kitchen this summer and we were without a sink for 6 weeks. You don't realize how much you need a kitchen sink. We just have a few things left to finish (last of the electrical work, backsplash and microwave install) so we aren't quite there yet but having a functioning kitchen is wonderful.

After we redid our kitchen, I understood why, when we were looking to buy, so many houses didn't have updated kitchens. Living off of a hot plate and a microwave in our utility room got old really fast. Congrats to you on being done. The gorgeous kitchen makes it worthwhile!

We changed the layout a tiny bit, but left the appliances in place (just moved a couple of inches). We shortened the wall next to the fridge so that we can fully open the door. We removed a peninsula and put in an island. The pantry/hutch area had a built-in desk before, which was pretty useless.

Here's the before:

As I mentioned earlier, simply gorgeous!!! I happened to be looking at your picture tonight again and noticed that you also have a yellow/gold wall color! I just posted about this (see my post about the grey/greige wall colors). What color is that, just curious? I really like it, as it brightens up that beautiful kitchen! That is assuming you are keeping it and not painting it grey, lol....

I notice you did put water to the island? You must not be on a slab foundation. We are on slab and ran water to our island, which was a pain, due to the tension cables in the slab foundation. They had someone out to xray and still got very close to one with the drill.

Really pretty! Very warm and inviting! Enjoy!!!

May I ask which appliances you chose? We are currently trying to decide on a refrigerator and then plan on going with that line for the rest of the appliances at a later point. Just curious... :)

I love your cabinets. I so want something similar but can't afford quater sawn oak.

Beautiful backsplash too. Are the counter top granite? Does the black show smudges?

What color is that, just curious?I agonized over different yellows and greens... and we settled on BM Weston Flax. The trim is BM Mascarpone. I love how it turned out!

Just curious... :)We had bought all our appliances in November when we first moved in, because the appliances here were awful. It's a Miele Dimension dishwasher, GE Profile induction slide-in range, and a small 30" Kitchenaid fridge. We had to get a small fridge because that's all that would fit the space we had before. We'll get a full-sized fridge later on. I like full-depth, and my top two contenders are the Kitchenaid with 5 doors (two french doors, two fridge drawers, and one freezer drawer), and the Samsung 4-door with the Flex section on the lower right that can be a fridge or freezer.

The counters are leathered granite, and unfortunately do show fingerprints. But, I'm so enthralled with the new kitchen that I'm wiping it down all the time to keep it looking super clean!

Is your backsplash green glass subway?? It's really neat. We had glass subway in our last kitchen...loved how it lightened up the kitchen.
