TOMS desert wedge?

I want to get myself a pair of these, probably in black suede, to wear with leggings/tights and dresses (for business casual work settings). I tried on a pair at NR recently and the wedge is simply too high for me. I have funky leg mechanics and there's no way I can walk in them!

I see that the girls' version looks the same but has a much lower wedge. Anyone have experience buying youth sizes as an adult in TOMS shoes? I'm a 7.5 but have a slightly wide foot so sometimes have to go up to an 8 in some brands.

I'm not sure about girls' Toms sizing, but I found the desert wedge to be ill fitting for my wider feet. I wear 7.5 wide or 8 medium, and the 8 women's desert wedge seemed too narrow and snug for my feet.
