Probably not the most eco friendly answer but I keep coming back to Tide powder for my HE front loader. I've tried Charlie's and a few other more natural choices but find they don't work as well.

I'd love to hear if anyone has an awesome alternative...

I make mine ( all ingredients available on amazon)

1 (3 lb 7 oz) Box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
1 (3 lb) Container of OxiClean
2 (5.5 oz) Bars of Fels-Naphta
1 (5 lb) Bag of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda

Grate up the fels Naptha in a food processor
I dump everything in a garbage bag mix it well and store in 2 large plastic rubbermade canister I have.

I am currently using Arm & Hammer that I have been getting from Costco:
http://m.costco.com/Arm-%2526-Hammer-plus-OxiClean-Max-Laundry-Detergent-250-oz.-160-Loads.product.100308489.html

I have also had excellent luck with Gain powder and liquid, and Tide Free (can't use the regular). I preferred powder, but the liquid is easier to store as our laundry area is small (I do pour it into a normal size detergent bottle to save space (plus I hate poring from the spigot)

I only use Charlie's Soap when I go to my in laws because they use Tide and the Tide makes us itch.

All Free & Clear or Kirkland Unscented (whichever is on sale at costco when I run out!)

Depends on what I can get the best deal on but I really like Method out of the natural ones I use - ECOS, BioKleen.

I use All, Purex, or Arm & Hammer -- whichever is on sale. Occasionally Tide if it's REALLY on sale, which is not often. I have never noticed a difference between any of them.

Persil, but for some reason it's not on amazon prime at the moment. Great.

Charlie's here too. I buy the 4 or 5 gallon buckets from eBay. It lasts forever!

Don't you have sensitive skin issues in your home?? Might need to look at those ingredients.

This is what I used when I lived in the States. It seemed fine but I never thought it all that special. Well, I'm not living in the States anymore and have been using a different detergent, and am finding tons of stains all over my clothes! Things that definitely would have come out before....so now I'm thinking that All was way better than I realized!

Country Save, but I keep a box of Tide HE powder at all times and use it on more heavily soiled loads because it does get out stuff that the Country Save won't. For our white towels and for bed linens I add Oxyclean and a good quirt of Dawn (we have oily skin here and the Dawn really helps and keeps our white towels sparkling white).

Do you have a front loader? Where do you put the oxyclean?

I've been using Seventh Generation Free & Clear for several years now. We have a front loader. I also add Oxyclean Free & Clear which you throw in right with the clothes.

I just put it in the drum, fill it with water and let it tumble a couple of times so the Oxyclean dissolves, then I pause it and throw in all the clothes and let it finish:)
