Applegate uncured hot dogs, unopened, with a use or freeze by date of Oct. 9.

I'm normally really comfortable going past these dates but thinking these need to go.

I would probably be fine with them and as long as they are not obviously spoiled (mold, bad smell, etc.), then I would just cook them well. "Uncured" doesn't mean unpreserved.

I'd also do the look smell- test. You'll know if they are bad.

I am usually in the toss camp, but I think they should be fine as long as they smell ok.

Oh good! They look totally fine. I have a cold so will have to get my DH to confirm that they smell ok. Thanks!

Where were they? If in or near the door, where the temperature fluctuates every time it's opened, I might be more cautious. But if they were toward the back, or in a drawer, or in a fridge that gets opened less often, they likely are just fine.

They were in the very back of the meat drawer.

I agree that, if they smell ok, I would just make sure they were cooked thoroughly.

I'm very thankful for this thread. I just had a similar issue come up, and while I tossed, I will think twice next time.
