Dds are turning 11 soon. They want a big party (inviting around 40, boys and girls- assuming quite a few won't make it). I've never let them do a whole grade party and since it's the last year of elementary we are going to do it. At roller skating rink. We haven't had a party in ages - do I still need party favors? If so, what is a good/easy suggestion for fifth graders?

I don't think you need anything.

I don't think you need anything and this may be too much for a large party, but the last 2 parties my 11yo DS attended gave $5 gift cards out.

For that many kids and at 11 yrs, I'd do a full size candy bar. The last few years, I've done $5 GC, but our parties have been much smaller. My kids (10 & 12) don't always get party favors anymore and it's no big deal to them, but personally, I'd feel weird not giving one out at our parties.

I'm sure it's not necessary, but I bet the kids would love to get something. How about a candy bar and something like this to go with it? https://www.amazon.com/Squeeze-Emotional-Holiday-Stocking-Stuffer/dp/B00OV4L5K0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1480118165&sr=8-3&keywords=emoji+ball
Or maybe this: https://www.amazon.com/Balloon-Helicopter-Party-Favor-Powered/dp/B01C1VXSZY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480118062&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=helicopter+balloon&psc=1

With that many, a full size candy bar is fine, that's still 40.00 worth of favors on top of paying for the party. I wouldn't give anything else, it'll probably get tossed.

I wouldn't give anything. We did a whole class roller skating party a few months ago with no favors. I don't think anyone missed them.

I don't think Party favors are necessary but I do think they are still fun at that age. How about a bunch of glow in the dark stuff (assuming it's dim in the skating rink)? You could do bracelets, necklaces, glasses, etc. You could even do a little glow in the dark party bar and let guests pick two or three items.

Vote nothing. If you feel you must a candy bar.

We didn't do favors at DD1's 11th birthday party. Nobody seemed to miss them!
