Any cool arts & Crafts Ideas for boys? Age 8. DD is getting some adult coloring books, gel pens, prismacolor pencils and I know if she starts using them DS might want to join in. My only idea is a Harry Potter coloring book? Anything else? He would probably more enjoy painting or coloring a picture that is already drawn for him.

How about a paper airplanes book?
https://www.amazon.com/Klutz-Star-Wars-Folded-Flyers/dp/0545396344/ref=sr_1_6?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1481652314&sr=1-6&keywords=paper+airplanes

My 8 year old likes dot-to-dot, mazes, and Madlibs-- not crafts specifically, but coloring book-esque.

Also, I bet a how-to-draw type of book would be appreciated.

My son is just starting to want to draw things realistically. He'll also "help" DD with her coloring book pictures, but he won't respond to a coloring book of his own.

For a craft that isn't related to the things you've already gotten, my 8 year old LOVED this putty kit. So did my 4 year old. The putty is stuck in all the carpets of my house, but it was a HUGE hit!

DS is really into thinking putty, so I will seriously consider that! Wish the price would come down though!

He has the airplane book, never uses it. I like the learn to draw idea too. Thanks!

Origami? There are star wars and pokémon themed sets. The paper airplane kit above is a hit here too.

Spin art and perler beads are also popular and my kids love Shrinkydinks.

This book is fabulous and prompts them to draw inventions. https://www.amazon.com/Crazy-Inventions-Sketchbook-Activities-Inventors/dp/1780676115/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1481657818&sr=1-1&keywords=Inventions+activity+book

My 9yo boy LOVES perler beads. I don't think it is traditionally thought of as a boy activity but I know tons of boys who love them.

Kiwi Crate subscription?

They have a more maker-y series called "Tinker Crate (http://www.kiwicrate.com/tinker/?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=SEM&utm_content=TC_Brands&utm_campaign=Tinker_Brand&gclid=Cj0KEQiA1b7CBRDjmIPL4u-Zy6gBEiQAsJhTMJnOl1EZkO_tl5a8e0HlE2v_zJogJU2WS36QR pHN3NwaApDR8P8HAQ)" ... and I've seen a lot of coupons lately.

So does my 8 year old DS! His favorite thing is probably a pile of construction paper, tape, and scissors though. He has the learn to draw animals Book mentioned above and likes that as well. He recently enjoyed making those rubber band bracelets from a $3 kit from Michael's.

Perler beads here too.

Also the weaving loom for pot holders is good at that age.

I'd get him some Prisamcolor pencils and one coloring book too. I got all three of my kids a set last year and they all love them. They are the BEST pencils. And my daughter would not have been happy to share with her brothers so even though hers get used more, it was worth it for all three to have their own set.

my 8 year old loved this book. There is also a Flying Paper Dragons book that is even better quality.

My 7 year old boy loves perler beads too. It's one of the few activities where he will sit still and be quiet for an hour or more.

Well yesterday he came home and wanted to learn to knit! So I might buy him the HP coloring book and call it a day since I bought him knitting needles and yarn today. He can do that if he feels the need to be creative on Xmas morning. He wants knitting stuff now so I will just let him have that tonight.

I originally bought DD a 48 count on prismacolor pencils for like $18. Then later saw the 132 count as a lightening deal on Amazon for $49ish. So I bought those. DD specifically said she wanted Gel Pens, not pencils. So I think I am going to give her the small set of pencils and keep the large set for myself (now I want a coloring book!) and that way there I can let either child use my set without them arguing over the colors. MIL bought DD a large set of gel pens for Xmas.

I havent tried the prismacolor pencils yet. I'll probably wrap them for myself and put them under the tree.

This may be resolved, but I recommend paracord (kit or pack with instructions) or a Spirograph.
