Hi there! I have never done this before, but since I had no idea this ever happened until I started working as a medical coder, I thought others might be interested (and alarmed) as well.
Are you aware that it is fairly common that your personal health information, as well things like your SSN, are being outsourced offshore to billing and coding companies outside of the U.S (where HIPAA laws are not in place?) This makes your personal information very vulnerable. If you are concerned and want to sign a new petition asking Congress to stop this practice, the link is provided below. (In full disclosure, a very large legitimate group of medical professionals started this petition, and other than signing it myself, I had nothing to do with it!)
