The hair coloring OP posted gotten me thinking about preschool costs. I'm curious how much you pay per month?

If you're comfortable telling us here, indicate what age; 2,3 and 4 years old. Also indicate type of preschool? Ie corporate setting ( like kangaroo kids, bright horizons, etc) or through your school district, or church based programs?

I went to an open house at a reformed church for DS2's preschool program. Was checking it out as heard it's really well regarded in my town, I want a school that is within 10 mins away.

Liked it a lot and thinking to do 3 full days for DS2 who will be close to 4 at time of enrollment. M, W, F at 440 a month which includes lunch.

Part days, 4-5/ week, about $3000-5000/ year (actually, 9 months). Private university setting. The one through a local synagogue was the same price point and we did that for ds1.

Our preschool that my kids went to, small, church based preschool (though all they do is say a prayer before snack), for a 4 year old 3 afternoons a week is 130 a month, the preK 5 times a week is 195 a month.

This is a small midwest city.

For DS2 next year I will pay $170 a month for 3 mornings a week. Typical church based preschool.

Full time for a newborn would have been about $900 per month at most centers. I was paying around $800 per month for DD when she was 4. The cost of childcare was the main reason we decided for me to stay home after DS was born.

Ds2 (3) goes to preschool at the public elementary school. It's 4 mornings a week for 2.5 hours. It's $175 a month. The 4 year old program will cost the same with the same hours but in the afternoon.

With DS1, I think we paid $150 for 3 year old preschool (3 days a week for 2.5 hours). It was at a church. His 4 year old preschool was steeply discounted since it was funded by the statewide free preschool program. We didn't do it for DS2 (long story.)

Varies here, not sure of part-time.

Our center, small local owned is $975 a month full time.

Bright Horizons would be $1100

We probably pay more than others.

For DS3 montessori preschool 5 days 2and a half hours per day, I think it was either 675 dollars or 690 dollars a month or maybe 650 dollars a month. It was last academic year so I don't really remember. It's gone up in cost for the next academic year over 700 dollars for 5 half days.

DS goes two half days (age 3) and the cost is $175/mo. Next year at age 4 he will be in the three half day program and its $215/mo. It's a small co-OP preschool, the most preschool-y preschool you can imagine.

Mine seems crazy high. 11k for a 3 yr old to go MWF and 15k for a 4 yr old to go MWF full and T/TH half. It's a private school 2yr old - 8th grade.

Dang. That's more than my college tuition cost.

We paid $225/mo for three half days a week, so 2k for 9 months.

The preschool down the street from me, that I would send my youngest if my oldest went to the elementary a block away.

4 hours a day =
5 mornings = $640
4 mornings = $568
3 mornings = $480
2 mornings = $375

Plus you can add on afternoons 3 days a week at the following rates
3 afternoons $374
2 afternoons $300
1 afternoon $180

MidHigh COL urban area

My oldest has been in a Waldorf inspired program, not really a preschool, but for 3-6 year olds, that is 4 hours a day 3 days a week for $400 a month.

We are in SE Los Angeles County

Dd1 we paid $220 a month (iirc) for 3 1/2 days a week at a preschool housed at a church, but non religious. It was $150 a month when she went two days 1/2 days week. This was in 2009-2011 when she was 3 to 5 yrs. old. She also went to an in home daycare the rest of the time and that cost was $800 a month. So the preschool cost for 9 months was $1350 for 2 day and $1950 for 3 day, but the full time day care was about $9600 a year, so the total was about $12k per year for both.

With DD2 she never went to a true organized preschool as we decided to keep her at the inhome daycare where the owner/teacher (credentialed who previously taught at the preschool DD1 went to) had a school area and did preschool lessons for the pre school age kids (most kids were 3-5) and it worked out fine for DD2. She has been so inspired by that experience that she wants to be a sahm that runs a preschool at her house when she grows up. The monthly cost was between $850-$900 a month (depending on the # of weeks in the month). This was from 2013 to 2015. This cost about $10k per year.

Private non secular pre schools attached to private k-8 or k-12 schools are about $15k here from what I understand and daycare is still extra. The JCC part time preschool program is $500 a month iirc.

ETA: both in home daycares we went to included lunch and two snacks in tuition and one also included breakfast.

My kids attend a N-8th grade Catholic school. The 5 full day pre-k program is about $5000 for the entire year. The 3 full day is around $3600 for the year. (We save a ton not continuing on with daycare for pre-k)

We got a big tuition save/sibling discount when my youngest was in pre-K last year since my older daughter was there for 1st grade. Both kids cost us $7200 for the year total. We get the same sibling discount going forward each year. I also paid a little extra because my kids needed the afterschool program.

Timely thread as I just registered Little M for preschool. She will go T-W-Th to a play based preschool at an Epsicopal church for $195 a month. I think that is a little lower than some of the other church programs and certainly less than the private school or daycare affiliated programs.

Mine went to Montessori preschool, 5 half days was 11K/year. The year before K, we did 3 full and 2 half days and it was around 15K. K is full day for us.

At a corporate plAce we paid $450 a month for 2 mornings a week including lunch. That could have been as much as 5.5 hours a session, but dd just attended during the core academic section which was 3.5 hours.

Through the county we paid $180 a month for 3 three hour blocks a week.

I am so envious of the costs I'm seeing on here!

For 3x/week, 3.5 hours a day (we sent lunch), we paid about $350/month for preschool/pre-k. This was a Spanish immersion program, and was on the lower side for preschool costs in our area.

For full day (availability from 7am-6pm, snacks are included but parents provide lunch) daycare that includes a pre-k program we pay $1450/month. This is also on the lower side for center-based care in our area.

DD goes to a 4yo program In a church MWF 9:15-11:45 that costs $235/month. They offer a pre-k for kids not ready for K or who start preschool a few months early that she might go to next year. It's M-F for $325 I believe. It's one of the least expensive in the area. Sis lives 30 min away and pays about 25k for 9 months of 1/2 day preschool at a Montessori program.

Kindercare $320/week including breakfast, lunch and snacks. We are in a HCOL area.
I was looking at Kinder afterschool programs, one of them is $11k per year including 3 weeks of summer--yikes!
Our Kinder is only 3 hrs/ day here.

ETA: i get a 10% discount through work.

We pay $242/week for our district's year round early childhood program. Runs M-F, includes breakfast, lunch, and two snacks and includes before and after care. Closed all major holidays, plus Spring Break and two weeks at winter break; we cover those times at his old school, which was $375/week (and not even close to the most expensive program around here).

Switching to the district program saved us a car payment every month.
