I lost 1 of the earrings DH and DS gave me as graduation present from master degree. One of them was always coming lose and would come off when changed clothes etc. I tend to leave same earrings in for several weeks. I haven't worn them in months and just put them in the other day. I was getting into car in parking lot and bumped my ear as took strap of cross body purse over my head. We searched me, car, parking lot around us. I'll search the car again tomorrow.

I'm really bummed .. there was sentimental value in these earrings. And I should've tried to get a new back for them. Bugger [emoji31]

What kind of earrings were they? Can you have the remaining one made into a pendant or pin or ring or something else?

First of all, if it is truly lost, it is OK to feel sad about it. Whenever I do lose or break something that I'm sentimental about, I try to look at as a lesson in letting go of material things and appreciating the thought/memories/meaning behind it that can't be lost.

Hope you find it!

I used to have a really hard time dealing with lost or destroyed things. It would bother me for years. This was particularly true of things given to me by my parents who are both dead. It's only been the last couple of years I've been able to let things go. One way I've found to deal with that is to try to fix things that are broken or replace them with something else meaningful. In your situation, I'd make the remaining earring into a pendant or, if the earrings were insured, I'd have Dh and Ds go with me to choose a new pair. Or have a replica made by the store where they bought them so you can wear them both again. But DONT just leave the remaining earring sitting sadly in your jewelry box. Then you'll just have regrets every time you see it. You don't want that gift to leave you with a sad feeling when you think of it! Your Dh and ds bought you that gift to make you happy. Do something with it that makes you happy!

Thanks all. I'm hoping to find it in the house. I agree that I need to do something with the remaining earring. I've always wanted earrings like this, and loved wearing them.
