Beach towels that don't take forever to dry

I have the impression that many beach towels take forever to dry, either due to size or plushness. Is this true? Any advice how to buy beach towels that dry faster?

I have two small, thinner beach towels that don't have this problem, and one new beach towel that does. I am considering buying Lands End beach towels now for the kids until I remembered that Lands End beach towels might be particularly thick and have the problem in spades.

I want beach towels mostly just for the fun of it. The kids love beach towels. They will use them mostly just to dry off with at the pool or beach. No one in our family really lays out in the sun.

We all prefer the thin ones b/c of how quickly they dry and how light they are. We also don't lay out in the sun. If we did, I suppose the thick ones would be more useful.

Agree that we prefer the thin, quick drying ones from Target or other discount retailers. I have some nice plush ones that we use for laying on, more like a beach blanket and use the thin ones for drying off.

the ones sasm posted are what we like, but i certainly woulndt label them as "fun". BUT they are extremely fast drying. they are also beautiful. we use them during the summer as bedding. we wash but do not machine dry. we hang them. the tassels would be messed up i think and the thin fabric would not last as long for sure.

they are called peshtemal towels or also hammam towels. they for turkish bath/steam/sauna

Thin, inexpensive towels (found at the regular B+M stores) are fast drying and good options. Lots of fun patterns to chose from too.

We have ones like this too. They are thin, but I don't find that they dry quickly. I machine wash/dry them, and they are holding up fine with the tassels.

I was motivated to buy my kids quick-drying travel towels to take up less space in their bag when they went to summer camp, and now we use those at the beach as well ...

Target always seems to carry a line of thinner beach towels. I like them, bc they are still kind of plush, but dry very fast. The turkish towel style lack that plush feel to them, it's like drying yourself off with a kichen tea towel.

Another vote for those towels! We keep a dozen in the laundry/mud room for days we head out to the pool, outdoor water play in my backyard. Dries fast over my patio furniture!

If you're still looking, Walmart has some solid colored towels for under $4. I picked one up last year because I needed one in a crunch and it works fine.

Last year when Target had the limited edition Marimekko line, I bought a beach towel. It was huge, it was thick, it was plush...and I cursed myself when I took it to the beach because it took FOREVER to dry and we didn't have a dryer. A couple of months ago, I picked up the Kohl's towel based on recommendations from here. It is a longer towel (72 inches), but it does indeed dry quicker.

I have seen that happen with the microfiber liner inside a Walmart sleeping bag. Yuck.

Bed Bath and Beyond has been clearing out some different microfiber towels that have very little nap, so I don't think things will stick to it. It's a waffle weave of pretty smooth, no nap microfiber. It remind me of a kitchen towel. They have been on clearance for a long time, so you'll have to be lucky to find one but I did just about two weeks ago.

The brand is Aquis, the size is 19 x 39" (about the size of two kitchen towels), it comes packaged in a clear plastic zippered bag and is sold hanging on a hook. Last year, I bought it full price in June for $20ish, then it was on clearance for $8 in August or September, both times on a hook in the towel section. Last week, I went looking for more and the staff showed me the last one thrown in the clearance section of toiletries. It was about $4.50.

It is good enough for under $10. My daughter used it camp as a backup towel, especially for her hair. She said it dries faster, although not exactly fast.
