Can we have a sticky for BTS sales?

Staples is already starting with various $.50 deals: crayons, composition books, glue, and report covers.

We've been out for 6 weeks tomorrow and it's seems like the 4th of July is when the stores start stocking BTS displays.

We just got out too. The Lands End back to school catalog came out before my kids were done. Dislike.

My town public district just finished last Friday, so barely a week out! Think our BTS start after July 4th. Anyone know for NJ/NY region? As it'll first time hitting up the stores to fulfill the supply list this year! Previously DS1 private school provided all the supplies, so no shopping at all! Gosh I'll miss that aspect.

Staples also has 97 cents, crayola colored pencils, classic markers (fat and skinny). That is typically the best price on those. They currently have spiral notebooks 4 for $1, but last year they were 17 cents, so I'm holding off on those. I need 90 of them, and 150 folders, so I need to find the lowest price.

FYI, I went to Staples last week to buy some school supplies. A $10 off school supplies coupon was at the end of my electronic receipt. There was no minimum amount purchase necessary.

I've looked through all 7 of my receipts from the past two weeks, and I only have a chance to enter a 50K scholarship from Lady Gaga. Bummer!!!

Yes of August and our last day was the 23rd of May.

It works well because in August and September it is still so d@mn hot no one can play outside anyways.

I won't have DS middle school list until the beginning of school, but I know I'll need glue sticks and twistable crayons for the younger kids. If anyone sees a deal, please post! Thanks.

Staples has both on sale. I saw the twistable crayons yesterday but I don't remember the price, maybe $2? And the gluesticks were 4/$1.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to check out the twistables. I was just coming to post that Walmart has the 2 pack of Elmer purple to clear glue sticks for $.25 each.

Does anyone know of a place you can buy single ball point pens? DS1's list has a set of black/blue/green/red ball point pens. It would be perfect if I could just buy them individually and make the set (since a packaged set like this doesn't exist).

Started my back to school shopping last night at Walmart. Glue sticks were $0.50 for a 2 pack, Crayons were $0.50 for 24, and Markers were $1.00 for 10 (not washable though).

I can't get the link to work, but it looks like Target has a multipack of BIC with 15 pens that includes all those colors.

Not yet. Last year best I found was 17 cents. Still haven't found anything better than 25 cents yet.

I saw 25 cents at Staples. That's the best I've found too. Last year the deal was at Walmart. I'm watching the sales but school is approaching!

Darn, I just checked out our Fry's but they don't seem to be having a sale on notebooks. Our Fry's is a huge electronics store though. That I know of, it is not associated with Kroger so maybe a different store altogether?

Thanks for looking though!

Office Depot has them for 1 cent each, limit 3. But you need a coupon, until Saturday, with a $5minimum purchase. I purchased along with 3 5-pack Sharpies, on sale for $1 a pack, so my total was only $3.30 including tax (I didn't hit the minimum but still got the sale price, YMMV). I also went with my 2 kids, so we purchased 9 total. At our store, the notebooks were mainly wide-ruled, but we found a couple college-ruled.

In store only. Here is the webpage with the coupons for other penny deals.

Yes, we have a Fry's electronics and a Fry's grocery store. The Fry's grocery store is owned by and sells Kroger products.

Ticonderoga 12-pack pencils are $1 at Staples this week.

I paid a $2.24 at Target yesterday for the un sharpened ones; I have an electric pencil sharpener so I sharpen myself. The only thing I need are Book Sox and a protractor/compass set and usually Staples has the best price on them so I will need to get them and may just pick up more pencils, but probably won't return the Target ones. I find all of the other stuff I need at Staples to be higher than Target.

I bought the same ones (https://www.target.com/p/bic-174-xtra-bold-ballpoint-pens15ct-multicolor/-/A-14932348#lnk=sametab) yesterday as I couldn't find two red pens. I figured we would use the multi colored pens at home as well; this pack includes pink, and lime green; although I just found these red ones online for .99 (https://www.target.com/p/bic-174-xtra-life-ballpoint-pens1-0mm10ct-red/-/A-17079220?lnk=fiatsCookie) (while looking for the link for the other pens and they say they are available at the local store....I didn't see them!). I will probably also look at Staples.

Yeah, overall I think Target and Walmart have the best pricing across the board. I had to run errands today and Staples and Office Depot were both along the route. I stopped in Staples to get the pencils, then went to Office Depot because they have Uniball pens for a $1. The regular price there is $6.99 for a four-pack. I usually buy at Target where it's closer to $4, but only three pens. I also picked up some Expo thin dry erase markers for $3. The lowest I've seen at Target this season is $3.79. And since I was spending $6, I got three packs of filler paper for a penny each. All told, I spent under $10 for everything.

The 99¢ Ticonderoga pencil sale at Walgreens started today. I like these because they are pre-sharpened. They also have a 5 pack of Sharpie Highlighters (thin ones) for 99¢ and a 4 pack of thick ones for the same price. I also got a 4 pack of dry erasers (wexler brand) for 69¢.

I found a box of red pens at Staples for $1.50.

They are also having their printer paper sale through today or tomorrow where 2000 sheets of paper is $19.99 with a $17.99 rebate (in the form of a Visa gift card) so 2000 sheets of paper is $2.00. Each kid needs to send in 2 reams of paper so this is a deal.

I bought four packs of .99 pencils; I will return the ones at Target because dd1 liked the binder selection at Staples better so I have more stuff to return than just the pencils. I also noticed that Staples was about the same price for almost everything at Target.

Those of you looking for multicolor ballpoint pens, Walgreens had an 8 pack of Bic for $0.29 this week. Included the red/ green/ black/ blue I needed.

Also, their 10 pack sheet protectors were $0.49.

Unfortunately the $0.69 deal on 4-pack dry erase markers was multi color, I just need black.

Was that the price on the shelves or did you have them scanned. Last year my store did not put the sale price on the shelves, but they still rang .99 at checkout. I'm in the midwest though.

I went on Sunday, the first day of the sale, they just had "hot deal" signs on the shelves. Nothing showing the sale price.

And if that isn't available, I just checked the price on Amazon for the product I bought last year, and they are <$1/ sick right now, which is less than I paid that year:

Can you check whether it needs to be brand specific? Our school list states that you can buy any comparable brand if you can't find the specified brand.

I agree that you may not need to buy the specific brand. One version of our list has specific brands, but I think it just lines up with what you get if you order through the PTO. And there is a second, more generic version. I buy some things brand- specific (like pencils!), but on others I buy the best price for the quality required.

So did ours, but I asked the teachers, and they said they don't care about brands - I'd definitely look into that, because that's saved us a lot of money!

I really don't think brand of glue stick makes a huge difference. The only ones I don't like are the purple ones. Those cause arguments in kindergarten! lol When I buy for my class I tend to get the office max brand as that is where the best sales usually are. Kids use glue sticks so fast, lose caps, etc, it isn't worth getting an expensive brand. Crayons and markers though, I buy crayola. There is a difference of quality with those!
