DD cut her knee 2 weeks ago and needed 5 stitches to close it up. Urgent care doc said no swimming or bathing b/c of infection risk. The stitches will be coming out tomorrow and friends have invited her to go to the pool. Can she go to the pool tomorrow, approximately 2 hours after getting the stitches out? (It seems as if the sutures themselves have created tiny holes in her skin, so do we have to worry about her knee getting infected that way?)

I know the timing stinks, but I would skip swimming for another week or so.

My son just got stitches out of his chin. He did not have any restrictions once they came out other than to avoid sunlight to that area.

I would think it's okay so long as the wound isn't bleeding. Its a chlorinated pool, not a lake. My kids are swimmers so they swim unless they are actively bleeding.

I would think that it would be fine to swim once the stitches are removed. I never had any restrictions after they were removed, just while the wound was first healing.
