What do your 6yo's do on a playdate? At this age DC and friends generally entertain themselves, but I'd like a few more ideas of activities/materials to have on hand in case boredom strikes.

Depends on boys or girls. Girls often like arts and crafts or dramatic play (playing school.). Boys are often wild and throw balls and have Nerf gun wars and wrestle. Lego, minecraft, and Pokémon. Or at least that's been my experience with my kids and our neighborhood kids.

I will preface this and say that I do nothing/buy nothing. My DD has both boy and girlfriends. Lots of imaginative play, pirates etc. I also leave out balls. Bats etc.

Same here. DS1 is 6, plays mostly with boys but some girls sometimes too. We play and use whatever is on hand at home and outside in our backyard which is a lot anyway. Bats, sandbox, play pirates, cowboys, hide and seek, dress up (have tons of different costumes), bat imaginex, Legos and there's the outdoor toys; scooters, bikes, etc.

I only get involved when they shift to outdoor play by hanging outside to watch over them, since ds2 is usually out playing as well.

I also keep it under 2 hours MAX too.

They usually play with Legos or make up pretend games/scenarios indoors or run/jump/climb in the yard. If we're outside I sometimes pull out chalk or bubbles.

We usually do 2-3 hours max for that age. Any longer and they often drift apart and want to do their own thing.

We usually do a playground or splash park play date. Honestly, it stresses me out having people at my house.
