My computer is getting old and I am afraid it's just going to crash soon. I have many pictures on it. There are also a lot on my phone. I want to have them all in place where I can easily access them. Where do you store your pictures?

Can you move them from google photo to sites like shutterfly for projects?

I back up all photos onto an external hard drive.

We have 2 external hard drives we back up on. They get rotated one usually is at DH's office ( incase of fire) They are relatively cheap on amazon Ours at 1T we had one for years then recently added a 2nd when my computer crashed.

One Drive and Google Photo, I also back up to an external hard drive occasionally.

External hard drives. 2 in rotation. 1 stays here and I update at the end of the month when I pay bills. Takes less than a minute. The other stays off site and I update it once a year. I used to use a thumb drive as temporary backup with my external off site, but externals are so affordable, compact, and hold so much more that I prefer to have two.

I have every photo taken since I was married 15 years ago and even my current non-cell photos are too large for google photo so it never stops running in the background retrying those and simultaneously telling me I'm out of space. Online offsite backup was a huge fail. I do also upload to shutterfly because it makes it easier for projects, but it would be a hassle if you ever needed to restore a lot of photos to your computer and they do compress them as well.

Dropbox and an external drive. I don't trust any one method fully.

External hard drive, which also gets backed up by CrashPlan.

For viewing/sharing, they all go onto SmugMug. I use Google Photos to backup my iPhone photos, but those are rarely good enough to go in with my real photos on SmugMug.
