I bought a nonstick Silpat silicon baking mat. How do you wash it? In the dishwasher? Laundry machine? It's so floppy it's a PITA to wash by hand. Wondering if I should just keep using foil to line my baking sheets instead.

I keep it on the baking sheet and wash it on there against the hard surface. Flip over and wash the back.

I wash it by hand too. Scrub both sides with a sponge against the baking sheet, like PP said.

This. They always feel greasy though no matter how well I wash

Agreed with the others. I wash, flip, wash again and mine always feels a little greasy too.

I still use it some of the time but often find myself reaching for parchment paper instead for easier cleanup.

After having the same problems with cleaning Silpats, I got a couple of Kitchenaid brand silicone sheets, without the fiberglass mesh that Silpats have. I mostly use them for countertop protectors when kneading bread so they get totally coated with ground-in flour, but I drape them across the dishwasher top shelf and they come out spotless. Obviously Silpats can't go in the dishwasher.

Out of curiosity, I looked on the Silpat website and discovered that the greasy feel is normal... http://www.silpat.com/silpatcare.html

I often put mine (Silpat brand) in the dishwasher. Been doing it for years. Holding up just fine.

Well, that's what I get for following the care instructions! I really thought the dishwasher would mess them up.

It came with instructions? LOL I should say SOMETIMES I hand wash but mostly I bend it over the prongs and run it with the dishes.

They say not to but I decided to be a risk taker. :)

I have a knockoff. I mostly stand it up in the dw and roll it slightly so it stays up. And occasionally I wash by hand . Good to know the greasy feeling is normal bc thats what prevents me from using it more often.

Easy to wash by hand, not an issue at all. Wash and rinse with super hot water and dry. Takes no time or effort.

I'm so glad to know this! I have another brand that I got at Costco, but the smell of Meyers dishwashing soap is embedded into it. I was just about to toss them, but I'll try the dishwasher first.

I have them, and I've always washed them by hand, but I never use them anymore. I use parchment paper for everything, and it's so much easier!
