How do you pack a grilled cheese in the morning and not have it slimy by lunchtime?? We use lunchbots or planetbox fwiw.

I've tried for years with no luck. Following this in the hopes that someone knows!

The key is making sure it is completely cool, so it won’t steam/sweat inside (which causes soggy bread). Once you are sure it if completely cool wrap it in foil or just just put it in the lunch box.

I don't think it's possible, but if someone has figured it out, please share your secret!

I've had the same experience with quesadillas- they get rubbery and soggy so my kids won't eat it either. We never could figure out how to get melted cheese anything to be edible at lunchtime so we gave up.

Cold melted cheese = gross and usually soggy. I would find another option. Mac and cheese in a thermos of they love cheese?

I saw a blog post a while back that suggested (like a PP said) cooling the grilled cheese first & packing once totally cold, then sending it with a thermos of hot soup so at lunchtime the sandwich can be dipped in the soup & warmed up at least a bit. Have not tried this yet, but it sounds promising!

I used to send a cheese sandwich. Basically, non-melted sliced cheddar (the kind from Costco that comes in a big tub) and a crusty type bread. It was oh-so-boring, but my kid liked it better than any alternative.

Cold grilled cheese would be a no go here.

Disclaimer - I have never tried this but I wonder if you could use a foil wrapped packet of Hot Hands or whatever those things are called and sit the foil wrapped grilled cheese on top of it so it would still be warm at lunch?
