Last year I made the metal ornaments from Shutterfly and I really liked them, but even at 50% off they were $12 a piece so I was thinking of getting about 20 of the 5x5" cardstock ornaments at less than $2 a piece (SF is 50% off through tonight) and then laminating them and using them as tags for xmas gifts for close family members. I thought laminating them might be a good way to preserve them as an ornament for those who want them. If so what laminator would you recommend and what weight of laminating paper?

Unless you laminate things regularly, I'd go to office max and have them laminate it with their 5 ml pouches. Depending on the size they could fit a few in each pouch. It is about 1.70 per pouch.

No I don't usually laminate things so yes going to Staples or Office Max would probably be for the best.

I've done the cardstock ornaments before and I wouldn't laminate them. The cardstock is fairly thick and I think the cut laminated edge around them would look strange, especially ornaments with a scalloped edge. I'd use them as is or would coat with a bit of modge podge or similar if you want them to be a little more durable.

I like this idea. I probably missed the shutterfly sale but another one will come along. I like the idea of using as a gift tag. Thanks!

Thanks again. I have never used modge podge. I did find that Snapfish is having 50-60% off plus 5% Ebates till 10/1 so the metal is tempting from them but they would be about $8-$10 a piece, but I will probably just go the paper route. Shutterfly extended their 50% off sale through tonight at 11:59 pm pdt.

You could probably buy some really cheap $20 off codes from eBay to bring the price down.

I'd get on their mailing list and keep an eye out for promos as it gets closer to Thanksgiving. I'm pretty sure I paid around 50% off last year.

I have laminated them for several years and they hold up great! I only laminate my own personal ones for my tree, but I don't see why you could not do others.

Thanks! I am already on their mailing list. My only wish right now was that free shipping codes were stackable or available.
