Medical Alert systems for seniors?

My parents are both having health issues, and I need to find good medical devices for them to start wearing. I'm hoping the BBB can suggest some devices to look at.

They spend part of the year in the US and part of the year in Ireland, so ideally, the devices would work in both countries.
