We are very close to starting our bathroom remodel. With the exception of the hardwood floor like tile the bathroom will be white based (countertop, shower tile, and cabinets), but I don’t want white walls. The bathroom is not huge. I plan to primer over one of the large walls and pick a color based on samples on the wall. We are having the contractor paint (and I really don’t want to paint again if I hate the color and DH hates painting so we need to pick a good color!)

I think a rich turquoise (but not as dark as teal if the room is small) would complement the tile, countertop, and cabinetry.

If you're not into turquoise, I'd try coral.

Is this a master bath or a guest/kid bath? That would impact my decision. If it's the master, I'd stick with a neutral (a light gray or cream or greige). If you need some richness in the color (like if the room is dark) then Revere Pewter would be a great choice - it's light but not so light that a dark room would wash it out. I have it in my north-facing (dark) office and it brings in a rich neutral without feeling like it's adding to the darkness. In our master bath we have BM gray owl on some of the walls (and white on the rest). It's one of my favorite colors ever but note that it can go blue/green depending on lighting. BM Intense White is also an awesome color - it's not white at all (still contrasts with white trim) but is the whispiest of greiges. We have it in our master bedroom and love it.

If it's a kid/guest bath, I second teal, maybe even just an accent wall!!! I've had this bathroom pinned for a while and I LOOOOOVE it (scroll down for the reveal):

In our guest bath I plan to do white walls and add color elsewhere - for example, I have a teal fabric shower curtain in there.

Only bathroom.....this is the turquoise green we have in there now https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180202/d6a30cca80fd3943b979289658fe210a.jpg

(I have been saying I am going to change the drapes in the bathroom since we moved in 12 years ago)

We are putting in a few recessed lights and this fixture.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180202/b1f932b651e93d6bc53cf749b90c5c82.jpg

OK, I vote for teal!! It's a small bath and everything else will pretty much be white. Keep the shower curtain white as well. Check out the other photos in the blog I linked to - that bathroom is similarly small. Your windows have nice casings around them and bright white for those and the trim will help. Maybe even try out the black door :) And then for decorations I like the idea of throwing a little bit of antique gold in there, like maybe in a picture frame, to pull from the metallics that are in your mosaic tile. I like the light fixture you picked out!

eta: not a bright playroom teal, but a deep teal that is more jewel-toned and adult-ish:)

We are going to have a sliding shower door, but thanks for the blog rec., and also the BM Revere paint color, I like that.

As soon as we walked into the Ferguson showroom I was drawn to the light and knew that was the light.

A good grey or greige.

Any actual paint names? Our contractor will use Dunn Edwards (a well known paint brand formulated and made for west coast conditions), but I am sure it can be matched with another national brand.

We have BM Venezualan Blue in our living room, and i am totally obsessed with it, and get SO many compliments. It is a rich jewel tone, and so beautiful.

If you want a more "neutral" color, you can go with the BBB favorite of BM Palladian Blue (which is blue or green depending on room/light/time of day, but gorgeous).

Have you considered tying it in with a color elsewhere in the house, like in an adjacent room?

The hallway is Ralph Lauren Calla Lily and is a light peachy cream color. It would be too peachy I think in the bathroom because I think there will be a lot of grey and grey browns in the accent tile. I could be wrong though. I was going to try and test paint in their before they demo., but it might be easy to do it once they have put the tile in the shower.

I did find the Dunn Edwards app that helps you pick a color based on an image so I did that with the accent tile, counter top, and floor and got some nice looking colors, most of them greys. The bathroom is really too small to do anything dark like the teal. We (Dd1 and I) did find some other blues we liked as well).

Here is a photo of how small the bathroom is (the toilet is behind the door) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180205/ff3a878b6f322bfe22ef869e3b1113e6.jpg

I love the combo you have picked out for your bathroom. I picture something more light and airy. I recently did my smaller hall bath in Sherwin Williams Rainwashed and love it. I get lots of compliments on the color. It's a blue-green with some grey. So tranquil! If you want to go even lighter, Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams is also very nice, but how it looks will depend on your lighting. It's perfect in my mimimal light laundry room, and my friend has it on her walls and it looks gorgeous. But another friend tried it and it looked more minty green in her room.

I would look at SW repose gray. If you do not like it, go to pinterest and look up how to choose the perfect gray/grey. Lots of charts on undertones. I love SW sea salt and have it in a bathroom. I feel like you want something totally different than you have, but it you do not plan on painting the hall, it might make an easier transition to the hall color. A Cool gray going to a warm peachy room can make the warm look dirty. [eta: i googled the color and do agree with you it wouldn't work well in the bathroom].

I agree with going with something light and airy. I have Benjamin Moore Pelican Grey in my master bedroom and it's a very pretty silvery gray that I think would look pretty. Another possibility is Benjamin Moore soft chinchilla which is more of a blue green and very soft and peaceful. There are many similar blue/green colors that are popular in bathrooms but I'm blanking on their names at the moment. If I remember any I will come back and post. Good luck!

I am all about light airy colors. I would say SW Sea Salt or Topsail. Sea Salt’s hues really depends on lighting, which can be a good/bad thing. I have it throughout my house...looks gray, blue, and green depending on light exposure. Topsail is a very light blue.

I think your old bathroom color resembles Rainwashed, which I’ve also had. What about the color I copied from my SIL who used a designer? It’s BM Brittany Blue.

Personally I wouldn't go with a saturated wall color with your selections. It will detract from the subtle, monochromatic things you have going on in your tile and countertop and all anyone will see is the color. If you go with a color that stays in the monochrome but is a slightly lighter or darker tone you'll keep the pop of your details and the soothing overall feeling. JMO of course. But to me teal or turquoise is just a full stop no.

Take a look at BM Stonington Gray, Revere Pewter, Balboa Mist and Cedar Key. Also, F&B Cornforth White (its a gray) and Skimming Stone.

I love a pale blue in the bathroom. But I prefer cool colors. Maybe a greige would be better if you prefer warmer tones like your hall.
