Help with these dirty floors!

The amount of dirt I am constantly cleaning up on my floors is ridiculous. We don’t really wear shoes in the house. I think the main culprits are the dogs. There are several dirt patches in the backyard and that’s were they like to be when they are outside. Any ideas to help? TIA!

My friend doesn’t allow the dogs out of the mud room or entry until their paws are wiped. Is that an option?

ETA- washable rugs by the doors?

This is what we did with our 2 boxers. We have a door in our laundry/mud room that led directly to our backyard. I make the dogs enter though that door whenever our backyard is wet or muddy and wipe their paws then throw cloths directly into machine.

We also had sturdy washable rugs by our garage door and patio from deck as that was also the entry points for my dogs too. Otherwise I kept a wet swifter in mud room where I would clean up those dirty spots randomly on my hardwood floors.
