I have some potential travel coming up that is all day (fly out early morning, fly back late at night) and would like to get a smaller duffel/tote that I can take with me as an "in case I get stranded and have to stay in a hotel for one night" bag.

I have a Tumi backpack for my business stuff - laptop, chargers notebook, water bottle snacks, a sweater for chilly rooms. But it doesn't have enough room to also toss in my makeup, extra underwear/socks/tee/shorts.

Any suggestions? I'm a Tumi girl, I love all my Tumi stuff. But I am open to other options. Things important to me: washability, and a shoulder strap that makes it easy to trek through airports and hang in bathrooms, and also needs to look polished. Tumi technically isn't washable but the material is so hard-wearing that I've washed my backpack several times and it comes out like new. I love that thick, strong but slick fabric that sheds dirt, and is so smooth/tightly woven that it doesn't pick up dog hair or anything.

I’ve become a Tumi fan recently too. Have you looked at their larger backpacks? I recently briught one on an overnight bus trip to Washington DC and fit a TON of stuff in it.

Lo and Sons. Everyone I know (including me!!) has this for a one night overnight trip.

Also, super intrigued by Away’s new bag. It’s a hardsided weekender with charging capabilities.

Finally, Mzw Jim bag.

I like the Rick Steves bags. Technically also not washable, but I think you could on a gentle cycle and air dry.

the other thing I will mention is a small packing cube of overnight stuff. I pack this often and it can become very small (minimal make up etc).

I would get a small roller bag. I have a tiny samsonite. Much better on your back and shoulders

Oooh! I really like the MZW Jim bag. I might like the Jimmy even better...off to see whether any discounts are possible :)
